How to change the asm sys User Password
You must use the orapwd command to recreate the password file to modify the password of the sys user, instead of using the alert user command:
1. Set Oracle_HOME and ORACLE_SID of the ASM instance
2. connect/as sysdba fromsqlplus
3. If the parameter "remote_login_passwordfile" is set to EXCLUSIVE, the ASM instance must be disabled.
4. RENAME or DELETE an existing password file PWD <SID>. ora (InWindows)/orapw <SID> (in UNIX)
5. Run the following command:
WINDOWS:
Orapwdfile = <ORACLE_HOME>/database/PWD <SID>. orapassword = <sys_password>
UNIX:
Orapwdfile = <ORACLE_HOME>/dbs/orapw <SID> password = <sys_password>
In 11.2, you can also use asmcmd to change the SYS user password of the ASM instance.
$ Export ORACLE_SID = + ASM
$ Asmcmd
ASMCMD> passwd sys
Enter old password (optional ):******
Enter new password :******
In Clusterenvironment
ASMCMD> orapwusr -- modify -- password sys
Enter password :******
ASMCMD> exit
NOTE: This is notapplicable for SYSASM privilege.
