How to change the old optical drive to the CD player

With the continuous upgrade of various accessories on our PC, some old accessories will be eliminated more or less. Do they really have to lie in the corner to sleep? Can we make the best use of these battles that once made us go through the battlefield? It depends on whether we are hardworking enough. Next we will take the optical drive that is easier to update in the PC as an example to see how to restore it to the second spring.

Innate Condition

Generally, when the optical drive is "miserable", the disk reading capability is weak, but it is not damaged mechanically, especially Cd is completely audible. Then, as long as the CD primary key is attached to the optical drive, we can completely convert it into a small CD player, which is very simple and requires no screw.

In fact, there are no special requirements for the choice of the optical drive, because the single-speed optical drive is already competent for the playing of CD records. The only thing that needs to be determined is that the drive must have a CD license key (see figure 1 ). In general, after 12x, the optical drive, except for the products of some manufacturers, basically has a dedicated CD license key.

First, we need to connect the earphone audio output hole on the front panel of the optical drive to the audio device through the audio connection. This step is relatively simple and you should understand it (see figure 2 ). In addition, one side of the headset output plug may be used in this process, and the other side is the audio line with the left and right channel Lotus head (see figure 3 ); such connections are generally easy to buy in audio equipment stores and electronic markets.

The last step

Next, we need to solve the power supply problem of the optical drive. Because the power interface used by the optical drive is a D-plug for PC (see figure 4), the most convenient solution is to use a PC-specific power supply. After upgrading the machine, the power supply is usually eliminated. There is no requirement on the power supply, as long as it can be used normally. If it is an early at power supply, because it has its own switch, it can be directly used after connection. If the ATX power supply is used, we need to modify it. It is a transformation, but it is still very simple. Figure 5 is the ATX power plug. You only need to use a wire to short the Green Line and red line in the power plug according to the figure. If you want to, you can even add a small switch for it.
