We all know that if you install Exchange for the first time on a C drive or on a partition that is relatively small in general space. As the Exchange server runs over time, it is found that the Exchange Queue database occupies a large amount of disk space, which can lead to disk space tension. Finally, an anti-stress condition that can cause an SMTP transmission to occur. When this happens, there are usually two ways to alleviate the situation: 1. Stop the SMTP server, delete the old queue database, and free up disk space. (This method can solve the problem temporarily); 2. Change the queue database path to a larger disk space.
Here's a way to share changes to the Exchange Queue database path.
Method One:
By default, the queue database is located in the installation directory and can be manually changed by EdgeTransport.exe.config configuration file to change. Modify the path labeled yellow below the configuration. (Note that you need to manually stop the transport server and the Edgetransport service before changing)
<add key= "Queuedatabasemaxconnections" value= "4"/>
<add key= "queuedatabaseloggingfilesize" value= "5MB"/>
<add key= "queuedatabaseloggingbuffersize" value= "5MB"/>
<add key= "queuedatabasemaxbackgroundcleanuptasks" value= "/>"
<add key= "Queuedatabaseonlinedefragschedule" value= "1:00:00"/>
<add key= "Queuedatabaseonlinedefragtimetorun" value= "3:00:00"/>
<add key= "Queuedatabasepath" value= "C:\Program files\microsoft\exchange server\v15\transportroles\data\queue "/>
<add key= "Queuedatabaseloggingpath" value= "C:\Program files\microsoft\ Exchange server\v15\transportroles\data\queue "/>
<add key= "Ipfilterdatabasepath" value= "C:\Program files\microsoft\exchange server\v15\transportroles\data\ipfilter "/>
Table 2-3 lists other important parameters relating to the mail queue database that is
Held in EdgeTransport.exe.config.
After the change is complete, start the transport server and the edgetransport service.
Method Two:
You can also use the script Move-transportdatabase.ps1 The script is changed in the scripts directory under the Exchange installation directory.
. \move-transportdatabase–queuedatabasepath F:\Exchange\Queues -queuedatabaseloggingpath F:\Exchange\Queues
