Fcip drivers are compiled using the RFC 2625 standard. This standard is mainly used to block IP/ARP packets through fiber channel. The fcip driver is a "Type 2" Data Link Service Provider ). All M_PROTO and M_PCPROTO data packets in the network are translated into DLPI data packets. An explicit DL_ATTACH_REQ information must be sent to a stream opened using a specific Fiber Channel port (PPA particle FC port, the ppa id is translated into an unsigned long data type. This ID is the instance number of the corresponding Fiber Channel Driver. The fcip driver uses the FARP fiber channel extension service to resolve WWN to fc port id.
