How to configure shared Internet access between XP and 98 system dual NICs

Preparations:
1. Connect the network cable
The dual-nic is connected to the Internet, of course, the network cable is indispensable, just as I used to work in a wiring company, so I asked my former colleagues for a twenty pair. Here, the commonly used network cables are cat5e unshielded twisted pair wires. Careful users will find that there are eight different color pairs of wire cores in the twisted pair wires, each of which is twisted together, this is why we call it twisted pair.
Generally, you can select the length of the purchased network cable based on the indoor structure. Sometimes, the telephone line of the household may be different from the host location, in this way, we need a longer network cable to connect. Beijing friends, twisted pair wires can go to Zhongguancun Hailong, Ding Hao to buy, about a dollar about a meter, very cheap. Because not many products are used, we recommend that you select products of some well-known brands, such as AMP and AVAYA.
2. Crystal head
With the network cable, you need the crystal head to connect, of course, also from a friend there to a few, the connection network cable of the crystal head professional terms called RJ45 connection socket, is dedicated to connecting the two ends of the twisted pair wire. By creating an RJ45 connector, we can connect the network cable to the NIC or concentrator device. The crystal head on the market is usually about a dollar, it is best to buy those crystal heads with relatively hard material brand loans, so that the crystal heads will not be deformed. We need two connection cables and four crystal headers, but it is recommended that you buy a few more cables to prevent the virtual compression or wrong line sequence when the cables are pressed.
3. Nic
Next, we need three NICs to connect two computers and adsl modem. Most of the domestic NICs use the computer's PCI interface, and the theoretical transmission rate is 10 M/M Ethernet Card, many boards will integrate NICs. If there is an integrated Nic, it would be better to buy two more. Here, the author's motherboard is integrated into the network card, then to the market and bought two TP-Link 10 M/M Adaptive Network Card, sharing 54 yuan.
Cost calculation:
When we set up this network, we used the above products. The network cable used 6 meters, 4 crystal heads, and two NICs. The total cost was about 70 yuan, which was very low.
TIPS:
For the sake of appearance, we have found several other line cards to order the network cable along the corner. In fact, if you want to buy these devices in the market, you can let the dealers do a good job for you. It is best to use the label Paper and other things to mark the purpose of each root, to avoid confusion after arriving home.
Machine configuration and Operating System
Note: Generally, Internet access only needs to occupy the CPU and memory resources of the computer. Therefore, we will only list these two items and nic configurations.

Operating System: From the configuration point of view, the host configuration is relatively high. Therefore, the Windows XP SP2 operating system is installed, and its integrated PPPOE dial-up function is used for accessing the Internet, using Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) to provide Internet sharing services for another machine, it is difficult to run the Windows XP operating system on the shared machine, that is, to install the Windows 98 operating system.
Create a connection network cable
Before connection, two network cables must be established to connect the adsl modem and the other computer. We first cut out two cables by Computer distance by means of a wire clamp, and leave one more meter so that the computer will not be affected by the short line when moving. Then take out one and use a wire clamp to peel off the gray outer skin for 2 centimeters. Remember not to hurt the internal network cable when you strip the wire, otherwise, the Internet may be unstable or you may not be able to access the Internet. Then, we can see the four pairs of transmission copper wires. The cables are separated by the white orange, orange, white green, green, white blue, blue, white Brown, and brown colors, cut the long line and shield fiber, and combine the line in parallel by hand.
After dividing the network cable, check whether the line sequence is correct. Then we take out the crystal head, copper pin up, and carefully Insert the line parallel into the RJ45 socket, from the front, we can see that the copper wire has completely reached the inside of the crystal head.
At this time, we press the Wire Clamp again, and the other end is still made according to the above method. Now, the network cable connecting to the adsl modem is ready.

Next we will build the second network cable to connect the two computers. The method is basically the same, however, one of them needs to be divided by white-green, green, white-orange, blue, white-blue, orange, white-brown, and brown lines.
TIPS:
When creating a connection network cable, we need two types of network cables: one is the direct connection line connecting the adsl modem and the other is the cross line connecting the other computer. Different connection lines are used. When creating a network cable, you must pay attention to these two lines. Otherwise, these devices may not be connected.
Internet sharing settings
On the host, because the Windows XP operating system is installed, the PPPOE virtual dialing function has been integrated, and the drivers of the two NICs have been installed by default. Before setting, we set the IP address of the NIC connected to another computer to 192.168.0.1, and use the default subnet mask. The default gateway and DNS do not need to be set. Next, enter the shared Internet Settings stage.
First, open the properties page of the network neighbor, and select create a new connection in the network task option on the properties page.
In this case, a new connection wizard dialog box is started, and click Next to continue. Because the required function is to access the Internet, select the Internet access option.
For PPPOE virtual dialing, You need to manually set the user name and password to implement the virtual dialing function. In the following illustration, select the "Broadband connection with the required user name and password" option.
The next installation requires that we enter the ISP name, user name, and password, which are very simple.
After completing the PPPOE dial-up setting on the host, double-click the dial-up connection shortcut on the desktop. After successfully verifying the user name and password, log on to IE and find that the host can access the Internet normally. This is not a big success. Finally, we need to provide Internet Connection Sharing Services for the Windows 98 operating system.
When you open the properties page of the network neighbor again, you can see an extra broadband connection icon. After right-clicking the icon, the following dialog box is displayed, in this dialog box, you can set features such as security and network options for the broadband connection. We only need the Internet sharing feature. Therefore, if you do not have other options, click advanced in the dialog box, now you can see the Internet Connection Sharing option, which is disabled by default. Click the check box to activate it.
In the past, I used to set static IP addresses on machines that share the internet, and then point both the gateway and DNS to the IP address of the host. In this setting, I see that the sharing option also provides a dialing function for other machines. After checking the Internet, I found that in Windows XP, using this function, the other computer does not need to set a static IP address, and if the host does not dial to the Internet, this dial-up is automatically enabled when the shared machine needs to access the Internet, which saves us a lot of work.
Finally, I installed another NIC driver without any settings. I opened the client's browser and found that it was able to resolve to Microsoft's website domain name. I entered net.it168.com, I found that I was able to access the Internet normally.

The above describes how to use dual-nic Internet sharing when I first arrived in Beijing. In fact, many jobs can be completed by dealers or Telecom installers, however, we will not feel the joy of the process.
