I. Make preparations

Install Windows XP and Use Windows Update to upgrade the latest system patches (including service pack L and other latest hot fixes ). Install the required applications at the same time, but do not be greedy. It is not recommended to install the applications in the C drive, and the size of the ghost image file is too large.

Whether or not you need to burn the final ghost image file to a CD, you should lose weight on Windows XP to minimize the size of the ghost image file. The main items that can be deleted are as follows:

1. System File Protection Cache

It is located in the C: "Windows" System32 "dllcache directory. You only need to run" SFE. EXE/purgecache "in the Command Prompt window to delete it.

2. Clear the page file

Right-click my computer and choose Properties ". In the "System Properties" dialog box that appears, select the "advanced" tab and click "set" under "performance, in the displayed "performance options" dialog box, select the "advanced" tab, and click "change" in the lower right corner to open the "virtual memory" dialog box. By default, the virtual memory file is saved in the installation directory of Windows XP. You only need to select the "non-paging file" option below and then click the "set" button. 3. Operate on drivers

Because we want to create a Windows XP ghost file capable of 10 thousand, the hardware configuration on the target computer must be different from that on the current computer, therefore, we need to delete the device driver on the current computer.

1. Delete common drivers

① Enter "devmgrnt. rnsc" in the "run" dialog box and press enter to open the "Device Manager" Console window.

② Find the network adapter, right-click the network adapter device name under it, and click the "Uninstall" menu item in the pop-up menu.

③ Uninstall drivers of devices such as the Universal Serial Bus Controller, video game controller, video card, and sound card in a similar way. Note that if the system prompts that you need to restart the machine, do not restart the machine to avoid the system from making your own claim and re-installing the driver.

2. Update ACPI attributes

Then we need to change the ACPI attribute of the computer to standard PC. This is because if the target computer has different types of ACPI, the new cloned target computer will not be able to perform soft shutdown, and may crash after the first startup! The procedure is as follows:

① In the Device Manager Console window, right-click "computer" → "ACPI uniprocessor PC", and click the "Update driver" menu item in the pop-up menu;

② In the open "Hardware Update Wizard" dialog box, select the "Install (advanced) from the list or specified location" option, and click the "Next" button;

③ Select the "do not search, I want to select the driver to be installed" option on the following page, and click "Next;

④ Then select the "standsrd PC" option and follow the screen prompts to start next, but do not restart when the last prompt is displayed!

3. Update ide controller attributes

The last step to the device driver is to change the ide ata/atapi controller. This step is very important because we know that the drivers of the ide ata/atapi controller vary greatly with different motherboard types, such as Intel, nforce 2, and, it cannot be used at all!

① In the Device Manager Console window, right-click the ide ata/atapi controller, Intel (r) 82371 AB/EB bus master ide controller, click the update driver menu item in the pop-up menu;

② In the open "Hardware Update Wizard" dialog box, select the "Install (advanced) from the list or specified location" option, and click the "Next" button;

③ Select the "do not search, I select the driver to install" option in the following page and click "Next;

④ Then select the "standard dual-channel PCI ide controller" option, and follow the screen prompts to go one way to next, just to finally prompt whether to restart, do not restart!

4. Prepare the master Image File

If the driver program on the "master" is deleted, it cannot be said that the program has been successfully deleted.

This is because each computer has a unique security identifier (SID: Security Identifier). If you copy the disk image to another computer, other computers will have the same SID, therefore, you need to use the sysprep tool to remove the SID of the "master machine" and force the target computer to generate a new Sid.

When the target computer recovers the clone backup, the system starts a mini-Setup Wizard, which prompts us to enter specific computer variables, such as the administrator password and computer name. However, because the driver is removed from the clone backup, the keyboard and mouse cannot be used for interaction at this stage. However, we can create an automatic installation response file to automatically repeat the question raised by the installer.

① Insert the Windows XP installation CD into the optical drive, and release the deploy. cab file under the "support" Tools "directory to the C:" sysprep directory;

② Run the setupmgr.exe file in it, and select the "sysprep installation" option on the "Select installation type" page;

③ Fill in the necessary information according to the on-screen prompts and click the "Next" button until the prompt box for the last person to save the configuration file is displayed. Make sure that the installation script path is C: "sysprep" sysprep. INF.

2. Re-encapsulate

Now you can use the sysprep tool to remove the SID of the "master". It is easy to run the sysprep.exe program under the C: "sysprepdirectory, and then click the" re-encapsulate "button in the window that opens. Next, you will be prompted that the Sid will be regenerated during the next startup, and click "OK". The computer will automatically shut down after a moment.

5. Clone the master Image File

After the computer is disabled, we can boot the computer with the ghost 2003 boot disk, and then click the "local → partition → to image" command to specify the source partition as the drive C, set the path and file name of the ghost image file to start backup. After the backup is complete, we have a Windows XP image file that can be 10 thousand!
