For general users who use Windows, the operating system is usually installed on a CD-ROM. However, for portable smaller than 13 inches, the optical drive is usually not configured. In fact, we do not need to rely on the optical drive at all. Installing the operating system using a USB flash disk is a very practical method. The following two methods for installing the system using a USB flash disk are described.

Method 1: use Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool to make the installation disk Windows7-USB-DVD-tool is a Tool officially released by Microsoft, it can be very simple and convenient to make the U disk into Windows 7 installation disk. First, Download the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool and install it. Prepare a USB flash drive larger than 4 GB and back up the data, because the USB flash drive will be formatted during the preparation process; finally, Download Windows 7 image files from Microsoft. After these files are ready, double-click them to go to Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool.

After entering the Windows 7 USB/DVD initial screen, Click Browse, select the downloaded Windows 7 image file, and click Next. If the official Windows 7 image is not used, an error will be prompted after you click Next. Here we use a system disk from Lenovo, operation failed. After you switch to the official Windows 7 image in step 2, you will be taken to step 2. Here we can choose the method of creating the installation disk. We can choose two media types: USB flash disk and DVD disc, here we select USB devcie. If we plug in the USB flash drive, it will correctly recognize that the USB flash drive has been successfully recognized. If it is not detected, click the refresh icon next to the device drop-down menu option to perform refresh detection, under normal circumstances, you can identify it normally. Select the U disk you want to create as the installation disk, and click Begin Copying in the lower right corner to start making the software. After the software is started, the system prompts that the USB flash drive is created successfully. After the USB flash drive is created, We can insert the USB flash drive to the computer where the system is to be installed. Of course, the computer must be started from a USB device. After the USB flash drive is inserted, BOOT will be prompted at the bottom of the BOOT initial screen to press F12 to enter the BOOT menu (different manufacturers, HP is F9, Lenovo, DELL is F12) alternatively, go to the BIOS menu and set USB for the first boot device in the settings startup Item. Then you can go to the Windows 7 installation process. Method 2: In addition to the previous Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool, you can use UltraISO to install flash in the UltraISO system. The method is also very simple. We also need to download the UltraISO and Windows 7 images, and then install UltraISO. Be sure to run as administrator. After UltraISO is installed, you must right-click and select Run as administrator. If you double-click it directly, writing may fail. After running UltraISO, open the system image file to be written to the USB flash drive. After opening the required image, select write to hard disk image under the boot menu. Note that after "write to hard disk image" is executed, select your USB flash drive in the list below and provide four modes, USB-HDD, USB-ZIP, USB-HDD + and USB-ZIP +, in the "Write mode" item, two of the latest enhanced startup compatibility modes developed by UltraISO with the plus sign are recommended. If not, use the other two modes without the plus sign. After the selection is complete, click "write ". After you click "write", the system prompts you that the data on the USB flash drive will be lost or not.
Select Yes to start writing

A few minutes later, after the preparation is complete, just as in the previous method, plug in the computer, set the USB flash drive to start, and enter the Windows installer. Tip: The second method is not limited to Microsoft's official Windows 7 image. Like the original Lenovo system, the disk can be restored to a USB flash disk for installation, which is very convenient.
