How to deal with the increasingly small available space of system C in Win8.1
Some win8.1 system users reflect that the available space of drive C is getting smaller and smaller. What should I do? We all know that disk C directly affects the system running speed. If the disk C is large enough, the running speed will be faster. On the contrary, if the disk C is smaller, the running speed will be slower. At this time, we need to slim down the C drive of the Win8.1 system so that the C drive has enough memory space. Next let's take a look at the detailed setting method.
The specific method is as follows:
1. Disk Cleanup: Go to the computer resource manager, right-click disk C, choose Properties> disk cleanup, and clear system files to view the occupied space of each resource. Check the cleanup check box. Pay special attention to the previous Windows installation, that is, the Windows old folder. If the system disk is not formatted when the system is installed, the previous system files will be placed in the Windows old folder with a large capacity;
2. Virtual Memory: the virtual memory allocates part of the hard disk space as the virtual memory, which exists in the form of page files and generally occupies 2G-4g. If your computer's physical memory reaches 4 GB or above, consider canceling the virtual memory settings;
Right-click the computer icon-properties-advanced system settings-performance-settings-advanced-change-remove automatic management check-select the managed system-No paging files-settings-Application-OK-restart the computer;
3. Windows Update automatic Update: Delete the automatic Update patch downloaded under C: \ WINDOWS \ SoftwareDistribution \ Download;
4. System Protection: Right-click the computer icon, choose Properties> system protection> Configuration> disable, and delete the Generated System Protection files;
5. Sleep file: press the shortcut key Win + X-command prompt (Administrator) and enter powercfg-h off. Press enter to close or delete the Sleep file;
6. Expand the partition: the most fundamental solution is to expand the capacity of the C disk partition. At present, most of the mechanical hard disks operate in a way that the outer ring speed is faster than the inner ring, and the system partition is that the C disk is in the outermost ring, so the software is installed on the C disk to start and read the fastest. It is recommended that you use partition assistant and other partition software to adjust the capacity of the C disk to 70-GB;
7. 20 GB loss: If the C drive loses 20 GB or dozens of GB for no reason, check that the folder size is not correct. This may be because the system protected gate value is too large to occupy
Right-click the computer icon on the desktop-properties-system protection-configuration, you can see that the current system protection usage is 25.26 GB, and the maximum gate is 75.63 GB, therefore, each installation/uninstall of software will automatically back up and create a restore point to occupy
Click Delete and set the threshold to 10 Gb or less.
This is the solution to the increasingly small available space on the C drive of the Win8.1 system. After the settings, you will find that the space on the C drive is getting larger and the running speed is much faster, if you have any need, please try it.
