1. Make all devices appear
We take Windows XP for example: In the Device Manager window, click "view → show hidden devices", you will find a few more devices in the list, after comparison found that there are three hidden devices, respectively:
NT Apm/legacy supports--nt apm/legacy Interface node (hint: If your Windows XP is powered down, it is probably because NT apm/legacy Interface node does not start, Try to start it to see if you can fix the problem); storage volumes-generic volumes; non-Plug and Play drivers.
2. Cleverly hide the optical drive
Click start → run, and then enter Devmgmt.msc to open Device Manager. Then locate and expand the Dvd/cd-rom drive in Device Manager, select the specific optical drive model you want to hide (if you have more than one), then click the Deactivate button on the toolbar or choose Deactivate from the right-click menu, and a confirmation dialog pops up and clicks the Yes button directly. After a while you can see that the device has a fork number in front of it, indicating that the optical drive has been disabled. Then open "My Computer" or Explorer, you will find the drive letter is gone!
Tip: In addition, if your optical drive is connected to a second IDE interface, you can also hide the optical drive by disabling the secondary IDE channel: First locate the IDE ATA/ATAPI controller in Device Manager and expand, then right-click Secondary IDE channel and select Deactivate command.
3. Make your Device Manager more powerful
"Device Manager" is a good helper for our computer equipment, in fact, just through the following simple steps to let your "Device Manager" display more details of the device, so that it more powerful.
Click start → run, type "cmd" and enter to open a command prompt window. Enter "Set Devmgr_show_details=1" and type "start devmgmt.msc" command and enter to start Device Manager. Take a closer look at your "Device Manager" and find out what's different? By the way, a more detailed tab is available that will help you get a more in-depth look at the specific parameters of your computer's parts. In the ointment, however, when you close the Device Manager, the Details tab disappears the next time you open it!
