How to determine whether you are currently running a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows Version

You must know which type of processor platform you are using (based on x86, x64, or itanium ). Most users use x86-based processors. If you cannot determine the processor platform type you are using, install x86 update on your computer.

To know which version of Windows you are running, or whether the version is 32-bit or 64-bit, open your system information (msinfo32.exe) and view the listed"System type"Value. To do this, perform the following steps:

1. Click Start"And then click "run", Or click Start search".
2. TypeMsinfo32.exeAnd then press Enter.
3. In "system information"To view the "system type".
   • For 32-bit windows, "system type"Value for x86-based PC".
   • For 64-bit windows, "system type"Value: x64-based PC".
