How to encrypt QQ and MSN Chat records

QQ and MSN are usually the most commonly used online chat software, but in addition to their use in chatting with netizens, more and more companies have contacted the company's business work to them. In this way, a lot of secret information will be stored with the software chat record in the computer hard drive, which is very disturbing. Note: This technique has been tested through the QQ 2006 Beta 2 and Windows Live messager 0689 Edition

One, QQ article

Chat record encryption in the QQ software is still relatively simple, because it has already provided a set of record encryption scheme.

1. Click on the QQ main menu, find "settings" → "Security settings", and launch the "Security Settings" dialog box. As shown in Figure 1

2. In the Pop-up Security Settings dialog box, click the "Local Information security" tab, and then check the right pane of the "Enable Chat record Encryption" checkbox, set the record encryption password and click "OK" button. As shown in Figure 2

3. Restart QQ, just set the encryption password will begin to take effect. As shown in Figure 3 is opened QQ pop-up password prompt window, and we can only correctly enter the password after the smooth access to chat software.

Second, MSN article

Compared to QQ, MSN encryption settings can not be so easy. Because until the latest version of MSN, Windows Live messager 0689, we have not seen any of the features of chat record encryption. Anyone who goes into the chat record folder, and then double-click the corresponding chat record file, you can directly use IE to view specific chat content, can be said to be "glance". However, if MSN Chat records are saved in an NTFS-formatted partition, we can subtly encrypt the chat record in another way.

1. First, click the "Message" tab in the MSN Options window, and then in the "Save my conversation in this folder" item, query the location of the chat record. As shown in Figure 5

2. Locate this folder in the Explorer and right-click to execute the Properties command. Then click the "advanced → encrypt content to protect data" check box in the Pop-up Properties dialog box to determine. As shown in Figure 6

3. At this point, the chat record in this folder only we can open, others want to browse to see only one as shown in Figure 7 Warning window and can not do any operation.

"Tips" This technique requires that the folder in which the chat record is saved must be in NTFS format and, if it is not, that the folder encryption feature mentioned in the article will not be available. In fact, for users who do not use NTFS partitions, there is another way to encrypt chat records, such as installing an MSN plug-in named Messenger Plus.
