I downloaded Ubuntu 10.04 and installed it in VirtualBox last night. The interface changes a lot and I have time to play. The first step is to first install the built-in function package, otherwise it is too troublesome to switch back and forth. Install the enhancement package (Guest Additions): Run Ubuntu 10.04 and log on, and then select "Devices"-> "Install Guest Additions" in the VirtualBox menu )". You will find an extra CD icon on the Ubuntu 10.04 desktop, which indicates loading it. Enter the command line terminal and enter: cd
/Media, find the appropriate version of the running file, and enter the folder sudo./VboxLinuxAdditions. run to start installing the toolkit. After the installation is complete, you will be prompted to restart Ubuntu. The following describes in detail how to install the enhancement package and full screen display in virtualbox.
After the system is installed, set up sharing to share files between xp and ubuntu. You need to install an enhancement package. After installation, ubuntu can be full screen:
1. Install the enhancement package (Guest Additions)
After Ubuntu 9.10 is installed, run Ubuntu and log on. Select "Devices"-> "Install Guest Additions" from the VirtualBox menu )".
You will find an extra disc icon on the Ubuntu Desktop, which is automatically loaded to the folder/media/cdom0 by default. Go to the command line terminal and enter:
Cd/media/cdrom0
Sudo./VboxLinuxAdditions. run
Start to install the toolkit. After the installation is complete, you will be prompted to restart Ubuntu.
2. Set Shared Folders
After the restart, click "Devices"-> Shared folder (Shared Folders) to add a Shared folder. The fixed and temporary options refer to whether the folder is persistent. Share names can be any one you like, such as "myshare". Try to use an English name.
3. Mount Shared Folders
Re-enter the virtual Ubuntu and enter the following in the command line terminal:
Sudo mkdir/home/linsir/share
Sudo mount-t vboxsf myshare/home/linsir/share
"Myshare" is the name of the previously created shared folder, and "linsir" is the user name;
OK. Now Ubuntu and the host can upload files to each other.
If you do not want to manually mount each time, you can add
Myshare/home/linsir/share vboxsf rw, gid = 100, uid = 1000, auto 0 0
This enables automatic mounting. (I don't seem to have succeeded. I have to find another reason)
4. Run the following command to uninstall the SDK:
Sudo umount-f/home/linsir/share
Note:
The name of the shared folder must not be the same as that of the mount point. For example, the mount point above is/home/linsir/share, if the name of the shared folder is also share, the following error message will appear when mounting (see http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/2265 ):
/Sbin/mount. vboxsf: mounting failed with the error: Protocol error
