How to install centos 5.4 in Windows XP

I am very annoyed that the entire lab cannot find a system disk... I didn't know how to use an ISO image when I installed a virtual machine last week. So I ran around on the 6th and 15th floors. I asked anyone if I had a XX system disk? I couldn't find the Linux system disk when I installed Linux in the XP environment today. I had no way to buy a blank disk at "Xingguang Supermarket" after class in the morning. I bought two yuan from SONY, I don't know whether it's cheap or expensive. I think it's okay. Before getting started, let's talk about how to use a blank disk to create a system disk: 1. prepare a blank disk and Linux Centos (or any other system you want to install ), pay attention to what kind of optical drive is on your own computer when you buy a CD disk or a DVD disk, in addition, you need to know that your own optical drive can support burning during the burning process. (I didn't know it at the beginning. It took a long time to seek another method ...) 2. Download nero 8.0 from the Internet. It is a CD-based recording software called the optical media burning software. A large part of Baidu online requires a serial number during installation... 3. open your nero software. Because you want to boot and install the system through the optical drive, you must select a DVD/CD (ISO) image instead of Data burning, otherwise, your ISO image will be written as normal data, and the system disk function will not be implemented. Www.2cto.com 4. next, you can set the default setting. The interface operation is very simple, but you should also note that the data writing speed should not be too fast. In general, select the one from 8 and forget the unit... It will not take a long time, about 20 minutes, and you need to check the data check item. It will automatically detect the integrity of your data after writing. If there is any error, there will be no more detours, an error occurred while installing later. Now let's talk about how to install Linux in the original Windows XP system: My preparation process: My XP has C/D/E/F disks, I will use the f disk as the disk for installing the Linux system. There are two options before the installation: one is to delete all the data in your f disk, that is: disk F does not contain the data you need. If it is not deleted, your data will also be deleted during Linux installation. Second, the F disk is divided into two disks, the data is put on one disk, and the other is split out as the installation system. Here we can use the partition magician software to achieve our goal. Here I have tried this method to achieve it, and the size is also well controlled. Drag it directly to determine the size, however, it will take a long time for me to handle the issue. I can't stand it for a long time because there are a lot of items on the F disk, So I almost canceled it, install it directly according to dongdongge's suggestion. At this time, my f disk only has no data, but his file system is still NTFS, and I can still see the drive letter under XP's my computer (there is a problem here ), directly go to the BIOS and set it to the optical drive to start, and then start the installation. The preceding settings on www.2cto.com follow the general settings. Here we select the fourth item: "create a custom partition structure" during disk partitioning ", the default partition method of the installation program is not practical. We need to use the partition method to process it. Then we started to enter the hard disk partition interface. Here we declare that we can still see the information of disk F, which indicates its disk capacity and file type (still NTFS ), I chose this disk and started to create a new partition on it, and allocated 20 GB for the mount point/. When I confirmed it, an error was reported: the disk capacity was insufficient for the primary partition, here, we will find that the information displayed on the disks under xp is/dec/hda1,/dev/hda2 (here, the disk:/dev/hda5, /dev. hda6,/dev/hda7) from here, we can see that the error is caused by the default maximum number of primary partitions cannot exceed four. Now we continue to create/dev/hda8 on/dev/hda7, in this case, an error is reported. In this case, we first restart the system, enter the XP environment, and delete the f disk from the disk drive, right-click "my computer"-"manage"-"disk management", and we will see our disk information. We only need to right-click "F" and choose "delete" from the disk drive, then we can see the words "Free", and the drive F does not exist on my computer. When disk management information is stored on the CD, start the disk and continue, when partitioning a disk, you can use our method to partition it. (Of course, if we add the/boot mount point here to force the primary partition, an error will still be reported, the reason for this setting is to deal with a situation where, when Linux is installed on the old host, sometimes it can be successfully installed but cannot be read at boot, this is because the disk capacity is too large, and the disk capacity captured by BIOS is incorrect, but at least the sector in front of the entire disk is still read, therefore, we need to mount/boot to a small partition in front of the entire disk sector. If we select forced conversion as the primary partition, we will see that/boot is mounted to the front of the F disk, the number of primary partitions cannot be set as the primary partition --- Note: this should be the reason for the primary partition, however, I still don't know what to do if I just want to forcibly set/boot as the primary partition. If you know what to do, I hope you can give me more advice !!) Then mount/home, and complete the basic configuration in splitting swap. Here we only use this as an exercise, and then continue... Www.2cto.com Grub boot loader: GRUB ("GRUB" for short) is a multi-operating system startup program from the GNU project. GRUB is the implementation of multi-boot specifications. It allows you to have multiple operating systems in your computer and select the operating system you want to run when the computer starts. GRUB can be used to select different kernels on the operating system partition or to pass startup parameters to these kernels. (From Baidu) I have paid special attention here: the Linux boot program I installed is installed in/dev/hda. In order to enable the system to have two options at startup, I have added the boot menu. When selecting here, all the operating systems installed on your current host will appear. I only have one or more Windows, however, it is not the name of Windows shown above. I searched the internet to find it. I set Windows as the default startup item, and then set the network... Root Password... Install software... Wait until the installation is complete. In about 10 minutes, you will see a prompt about the successful installation of Centos in Linux. Then, the disc will pop up automatically and the system will restart. After the system is started, the first setting prompt will appear: you can also set it according to the prompts and requirements. Here there will also be an ordinary user login account. We recommend that you fill in this, as usual user login, if you do not enter a common user, the default root user will log on. the root user has too many permissions. If you accidentally perform the operation, the consequences will be serious .... Www.2cto.com is good. Basically, the process is like this. I installed it for the first time, so it is hard to understand it in many places. What else do not understand: 1. when the system is started, there will be a prompt in Linux: Windows will .... in 3 second, at this time, press any key to display the page for selecting Linux or Windows. If you do not select 3 seconds, Windows will be automatically started, but here is different from what I think, when someone else's machine starts, there will be a prompt in the black screen, and the time is 15 seconds. I don't know if the boot loading is wrong. 2. It is the red part above. Note: My f drive is all movies in college and I deleted them. To tell the truth, I am really reluctant to leave our photos and important videos... Ah...
