As you know, KDE 4.1 has finally been released with many innovative Linux desktop environments. KDE 4 is a new generation of popular K desktop environments designed to provide a powerful and easy-to-use desktop for personal and enterprise computing. The new version of KDE provides longer stability and more visual effects than the first release of KDE 4!
Therefore, if you do not want to download the KDE 4.1-based openSUSE Live CD or want to wait for a stable release of KDE4.1.0 as the default desktop, we will teach you how to install KDE4.1 on your existing Ubuntu 8.04 or Ubuntu 8.04.1 long-term support desktop.
Editor's note:To facilitate Linux beginners to use the "Super Terminal", we use the apt-url link in this tutorial. Therefore, you only need to click this link in this Guide to install the suite.
Choose system> System Management> Software source. enter your password and the software source window will open.
Click the second tag "third-party software", select the "add" button, and paste the following code into the new window just opened.
Code: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-members-kde4/ubuntu hard main
Now, click "add source" and then click "close" in the main window. It will ask if you want to reload the available software information and click "reload, wait until the software source window is closed.
Step 2-install KDE 4.1.0
What you need to do now is... Click here to install KDE 4.1
Click "yes" to install the software package (enter your password when asking)
Wait for the KDE 4.1 package to be downloaded ....
After the download is complete, the system will ask you to select a Display Manager (or KDM-KDE4), just click forward...
The installation starts. After the installation is complete, select to exit. Then, select the "KDE4" option in "select session" in the GNOME logon window manager and apply it. Enjoy it on the KDE4 desktop!

Click here to download and install StartUp-Manager
After the installation is complete, choose system> System Management> Start manager.
Enter your password, wait for the main window to appear, and then select the second tag
"Appearance": Select Usplash-theme-ubuntu from the Usplash topic options, wait for the new settings to apply, and then you will be done!
