How to partition a removable hard disk

Open Control Panel-system-hardware-Device Manager-disk drive, found generic External USB device "(ordinary external USB devices), the computer has recognized the mobile hard disk, but the hard disk is not partitioned, so there is no drive letter. 1. Right-click on the "My Computer" tab on the desktop, turn on "manage"-"storage"-"Disk Management", then in the bottom right "Disk 2" window see the Black bar "298.09G (Unassigned)" (because I loaded two hard drives in my computer, so the mobile hard disk is shown as "Disk 2", If there is only one hard disk in the computer, the removable hard disk is displayed as "Disk 1", which is a hard disk that is not yet partitioned.

2. Then right-click on this hard drive, select "New Disk Partition"-"primary Partition", then choose Next.

3, after the "New Disk Partition Wizard", the size of the primary disk partition is the size of the first partition of the mobile hard disk, can be arbitrarily specified, such as only one zone, you can specify the "Maximum amount of disk space" as the partition size. Now I'm going to divide it into three extents, then the partition size is specified around 305243÷3=101748.

4. Specify "Drive letter and path" and select Next.

5, in the "Format Partition" option, select the second item "format this disk partition as below", you can select FAT32 or NTFS format partition, if the partition capacity is greater than 32G, only NTFS one optional. "Partition unit Size" takes the default value, "Volume label" That is, the partition name can be a random one. Select "Perform Quick format", or wait a longer time

6, "Next"-"done". After formatting is complete, the first partition becomes a blue bar with good status.

7, after dividing the primary disk partition, the remaining capacity is divided into extended partitions.

8. It is important to note that you do not need to set the partition size when setting up the extended partition, direct "next" to "done".
