How to protect a Word document by using restricted editing

First, the Quick steps

File → info → protect Document → limit edit → check "Restrict formatting to selected styles" → Check to allow only this type of edit in the document → Click Yes, enable Force protection.

Second, detailed steps

1, select "file → information" in turn, open the window as shown in Figure 1:

2. Click "Protect Document" and select "Restrict Edit", as shown in Figure 2:

3. The Limit edit window appears on the right side of the word workspace, as shown in Figure 3:

4, "limited edit" there are three options, namely: Formatting restrictions, editing restrictions and start mandatory protection, you can select all three, you can select only one of them.

5, if three are selected, set the "Formatting restrictions" First, click "Restrict formatting to selected styles" Check it, if you only want to limit some formatting, you can click Settings to open the Formatting Restrictions window, as shown in Figure 4:

Do not want to limit the format, click it to remove the front of the check, "format" below there are three options, can be checked as needed, and finally click OK.

6, set edit restrictions, click Allow this type of edit only in the document, and then select one of the "revise, annotate, fill in form, no change (read only)" option, as shown in Figure 3.

If you want to set part of the document to allow some users to edit, first select the text that is allowed to edit:

1 Allow all people to edit: Check the box in front of "Everyone", as shown in Figure 5:

2 only allows the specified user to edit: Click More users and open the Add User window as shown in Figure 6:

Enter the user name that is allowed for editing; Separate, like Figure 6, and finally click OK.

7, after the setup is complete, click "Yes, start the Force protection".

The above methods for Word document protection are available for most versions of Word, such as Word2013, Word 2010, Word 2007, and some versions may have different location orders, but the setting method does not change.
