How to recover a corrupted Word document

Source: Internet
Author: User

If your document does not open properly, you can use the following methods to recover all or most of the information saved in it.

First, copy to the new document

You can copy all objects in the document except the last paragraph flag to a new document. Word holds a large amount of information in the paragraph flag, and the last paragraph flag in the document contains more information, including key sections and style data. In many cases, the last paragraph flag in a Word document also contains information about the damage to the document. At this point, copying the rest of the objects to a new document solves the problem.

Save the entire document in a different format, such as a lower version of Word document, RTF, HTML, or WPS

You may lose elements that are supported only in Word document format, but this often solves the problem. Copy the document to a new document, copy it one at a time, and save the new document after each copy. This will probably find the location where the document destruction information exists. Typically, the problem exists only in a potentially insignificant image, or in a specific paragraph. Remove these problematic areas and copy all other elements before and after the corrupted information. You can save the document as much as possible.

Insert a corrupted document in a new document by using the File command on the Insert menu in a new document

Four, in draft mode to browse the document

Click Options under the Tools menu, click the View tab in the Options dialog box, and then select the Draft Font check box, and then click OK.

Use [Recover Text from any file] feature

After the word file is corrupted, you can use the "Recover Text from Any File" feature to open the file. In Word2000, the restore text from any file feature is installed as part of the default installation. If not, you can put it back on again. Using this feature can be very effective, but it clears objects in the format file other than text.

Action steps are as follows:

1. Click the Open command under the File menu.

2. In the Open dialog box, select the restore text from any File option in the File Type Drop-down box.

3. Select the corrupted file you want to open. Then click the Open button. If you turn on Word's quick save feature when you last successfully save the file, the text may not appear in the correct order, but most of the text will be found.

Note: After you use the "Recover Text from Any File" feature, be sure to modify the settings in the File type Drop-down box to the original setting, otherwise Word will use the "Recover Text from Any file" feature to work on the next open document.

Vi. using the "Detect and Repair" feature

In Word2000, you can use the Detect and Repair feature to repair corrupted files. Click the Detect and Repair command under the Help menu. Run this repair program to automatically verify and reinstall the files and registry entries that are required to successfully run word. Detects and repairs differences between the original installation state and the current state in the user's computer, and can handle problems that occur.
