Background
I have two computers, one with the Windows operating system and the other with the Opensuse Enterprise Linux. Now I want Windows to remotely access the Opensuse desktop. You cannot connect to the Opensuse desktop by using the "Remote Desktop Connection" provided by Windows alone (maybe you have not found a proper method ).
Here I provide two solutions, one using VNC tool and the other using XManager tool. Now I will introduce how to use these two tools.
Tool Introduction
VNC:VNC (Virtual Network Computing) is short for Virtual Network computers. VNC is an excellent remote control tool software developed by the famous AT&T European research laboratory. VNC is a free open source software based on UNIX and Linux operating systems. It has powerful remote control capabilities and is highly efficient and practical. Its performance can be comparable to any remote control software in Windows and MAC. In Linux, VNC includes the following four commands: vncserver, vncviewer, vncpasswd, and vncconnect. In most cases, I only need two Commands: vncserver and vncviewer. : Http://www.realvnc.com/products/download.html
Xmanager: Xmanager is a high-performance X window server running on MS Windows platform. You can run Unix/Linux and Windows Graphics applications simultaneously on your local PC. : Http://www.netsarang.com/download/down_xme3.html
Glossary
Here I assume that the name of the computer on which Windows is installed isW computersThe name of the computer on which Opensuse is installed isL computer.
Detailed steps
I. VNC Mode
1. Start to install the downloaded VNC tool on the W computer. After installation, the tool appears on the Start menu bar:
Here, I only need to use the VNCViewer browser, and the server does not need to use it.
2. on pc l, select:
New personal invitation:
Click "configuration ..." :
Then, select "allow uninvited connections" on "security" (or set a password for uninvited connections). I leave the password empty here.
Click "OK ".
3. This alone is not enough!I also need to write some articles on L's firewall!
Use YAST to configure the firewall:
After YAST is started, you also need to enter the administrator password, and then open the firewall in "security and user ":
You can use "Disable firewall auto start" and "Stop firewall immediately" to set it.
If you do not want to disable the firewall, or set "allowed services:
"Add" external region service "VNC" here. Click OK.
4. Now, you can use the VNC tool on W computer to remotely access the desktop of L computer:
Run the VNC Browser:
Enter the IP address on pc l in the LAN, select default for encryption, and click "OK ".
Finally, you must accept the connection invitation on pc l, and choose to be able to be controlled by the mouse and keyboard, so that it is OK.
Ii. Xmanager Mode
1. VNC requires an invitation on a computer, similar to QQ. XManager does not need to be confirmed and can be accessed remotely through the account and password. First install the Xmanager tool.
2. Start YAST and choose system>/etc/sysconfig editor"
Modify the DISPLAYMANAGER_REMOTE_ACCESS attribute in DisplayManager and the DISPLAYMANAGER_ROOT_LOGIN_REMOTE attribute to yes.
Change the DISPLAYMANAGER attribute to "kdm" (My Opensuse uses the Kde Desktop, which changes desktop operations to GNome operations)
There will be a process to restart the computer, you need to restart.
3. Set related configurations:
Edit/etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess and remove the comment in this line: * # any host can get a login window (remove)
Edit/etc/X11/xdm-config and comment out this line: DisplayManager. requestPort: 0 (use! Note)
4. Start XDMCP on the firewall of computer L:
In this way, all settings on the computer have been set.
5. You cannot connect to computer L. Because you still need to set the firewall on the W computer:
You can disable the firewall or set it through "allow programs or functions through Windows Firewall:
Select All Xmanager and Xsound.
6. Now start XBrowser in XManager:
Select the Dynamic of XDMCP and you will find that there is an additional computer, which is the L computer where Opensuse is located.
Double-click it or enter the IP address on the computer L in the address bar:
Select the IP address under Windows and click OK:
In this way, enter the account and password to enter the desktop of computer L.
Summary: this is some experience in remote access to the Opensuse desktop using Windows, and I also want to give myself a memo, hoping to provide some help for you :)
