How to remove Services in Windows 7,windows 8 and Windows 10
A service is an application type that runs in the background of a system without a user interface, similar to a UNIX daemon process. The service provides core operating system features such as Web services, event logging, file services, printing, encryption, and error reporting.
Sometimes you may need to delete a service. For example, the installed software does not uninstall correctly and retains its services in the Services list.
This tutorial will show you how to remove services in Windows 7, Windows 8 , and Windows 10 .
You must be logged on as an administrator to delete the service.
It is recommended that you do not remove any of the default Windows services. Doing so may make windows very unstable.
Option One
To delete a service by using a command prompt
1. Press the Win + R key to open run, type services.msc to go to run, and then click OK to open services.
2. Right-click or hold the service you want to delete (for example: my sample Service), and then click/Tap Properties . (see below)
3. Note The service name for this service (for example: "Sample Service"), and then close the service. (see below)
4. Open An elevated command prompt .
5. Type the following command at an elevated command prompt, and then press enter . (see below)
sc delete "Service Name"
Alternate service name from: Above the command with the actual service name ("Example Service" EX) above Step 3 .
For example:sc delete "Example Service"
6. When you are finished, you can turn off the elevated command prompt.
Option two
To delete a service by using Registry Editor
1. Press the Win + R key to open run, type services.msc to go to run, and then click OK to open services.
2. Right-click or hold the service you want to delete (for example: my sample Service), and then click/Tap Properties . (see below)
3. Note The service name for this service (for example: "Sample Service"), and then close the service. (see below)
4. Press the Win + R key to open run, type regeditin Run, and then click OK to open Registry Editor.
5. Navigate to the following registry key in the left pane of the Registry Editor. (See step 6th below)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ CurrentControlSet \ Services
6. under the service key, right-click or hold the service name in step 3 above (for example: "Sample Service") and click/Tap Delete . (see below)
7. Click/Tap Yes to confirm. (see below)
8. When you are finished, close Registry Editor.
9. Restart the computer to apply.
