How to test server network connectivity with the ping command

Ping (Packet Internet groper) is one of the most frequently used tools in network testing, which determines whether downlevel connections between two or more network nodes are available, and provides basic network performance statistics that can help diagnose network problems related to communications.

The language format for the ping command is as follows:

1. Determine Network device system availability

Use the ping command to test the availability of network devices. Here's how it works:

[Email protected] ~]# ping-c 4.192.168.1.1

If the machine is in a different network than the target host being tested, and the routing device between the two networks is not normal, there will be no messages when the ping command is used.

2. Test Network performance

Test the same network traffic performance at different times, there will be different return results, the ping command to send a message to the remote target and return the length of the message information, which can be used to determine the timing of the two devices between the performance of the path.

Note: The larger the volume of the sending packet, the higher the network performance requirement, which is the high quality of the network traffic required to send a 100-byte packet over a 64-byte packet.
