In an Excel spreadsheet, you sometimes need to make two or more adjacent cells to be a large cell for the sake of the appearance of the tables or the table itself, and you need to split the large cells that you have merged into separate cells when necessary.
(1) Merging cells
Select the series cells you want to merge. Click the Start tab, click the Merge button, and select a method of merging, such as center after merge, to merge the selected cells and place the new cell in the center alignment, as shown in the figure.
Cross-merge merges the selected cells, and merge cells merges all the selected cells, not the formatting.
(2) Split merged cells
Select the cells that you have merged. Click the Start tab, click the Merge button, and then select the Cancel cell merge option.
