How can we restore the system and restore images in Windows 7? I will give you a detailed introduction today. I hope you will be helpful to the operating system!
1. System Restoration
Simply put, when we install application software, hardware drivers, or perform system settings, windows first records the status of the current system to form a backup. In the future, if the system is abnormal, you can restore the entire system to the backup state. This feature looks good, but in Windows XP and earlier systems, there are not many people who actually use this feature. The reason is: the restoration must be performed after the system is started. However, when the system cannot be started, it is also the most important thing to restore, but it becomes a blank talk because the system cannot be started. To this end, the first thing many computer enthusiasts do after installing the system is to disable this function. Many friends and users do not even know that this function exists.
Windows 7 still retains this feature, but I believe everyone will be reluctant to close it, because it can restore the system by repairing the disc-it completely solves the problem of restoring the system after the first startup.
1) Restore origin Creation
By default, Windows 7 automatically creates restore points at the right time, for example, when installing a hardware driver, installing some software, and making important settings for the system. You can also manually create a restore point. Generally, If you think some operations may affect the stability and security of the system, for example, you need to manually create a restore point when installing trial software or updating unofficial drivers. The specific method is as follows:
(1) Right-click "computer" in the "Start" menu and select the "properties" command. Then, click "system protection" in the window that opens ". Here, we can see that the "protection" Status of the partition installed on Windows 7 is "Open", that is, whether it is manual or automatic creation of the Restoration point, the partition is protected. Generally, as long as the partition is protected, it is enough, as shown in 7.
(2) Click "CREATE". In the displayed dialog box, enter the restore origin name as prompted, and then click "CREATE" to manually create a restore origin.
Note: It is recommended that you do not enter the Restore Point name for convenience. It should be helpful, for example, "XX has been installed at XX time" and "XX has been configured at XX time. In this way, the recovery point can be selected to restore the system.
2) Restore settings
System Restoration is a very important and convenient function. The biggest advantage is that it does not damage users' files, such as my documents, my images, and my music. To make it work better, you can make some simple settings.
The system restore function only monitors partitions installed on Windows 7. If you want to monitor other partitions, select in Figure 7 and click "Configure, in the displayed dialog box, select "restore system settings and files of previous versions ". Here, you can also control the hard disk space occupied by the restoration function-drag the corresponding slider, generally, you can choose about 10 Tib. To disable System Restoration, select "Disable System Protection" here.
3) restore the system with restore points
If you obviously feel that the system is not working properly due to an operation, or the system is attacked by malware at a certain time point, restoration is undoubtedly a good choice. Restoring a computer with restore points can be performed in the Windows 7 window, or by repairing the disc.
4) In Windows 7
In Figure 7, click "System Restore ". Next, select an existing Restore Point and click "Next.
In this step, pay attention to the selection of restore points, because the programs installed after the Restore Point will not run, and some settings we have manually performed on the system will not take effect. To solve this problem, please note that the Restore Point name is used for distinguishing, or click "Scan affected programs" to view it, strive to find a balance between restoring the system and ensuring that the installed program and setting are effective.
5) use the restoration disc to restore
Start the computer with the fixed disc (including the installation disc, security mode, etc.) until the page in Figure 6 appears. Click "System Restore, subsequent operations are exactly the same as those in Windows 7.
2. Image repair
Image repair is one of the new features of Windows 7. It works in a similar way as a well-known Ghost. During the creation, the entire partition is backed up as an image file. After the restoration, the image file is released to the specified hard disk partition.
The image is created in the Windows 7 window, and the restoration of the system using the image can only be achieved through the restoration of the CD. This design concept not only takes care of the simplicity of the operation but also considers the applicability. You can create an image normally when the system is working normally. You do not need to use a restoration disc. However, the operation in the System window is simple and easy. Generally, image repair is used to completely repair damaged systems, which is equivalent to re-installation. However, the software installed before the image creation and system settings can be completely preserved. When the system cannot be started, it is also the most necessary time. The recovery disc can effectively solve the disadvantages of other recovery measures (such as file recovery) that cannot be implemented because the system cannot be started.
1) create an image
Create an image in Windows 7.
(1) Click "All Programs> maintenance> backup or restore> Create System Image" in the "Start" menu to run the backup wizard.
(2) Select where to save the backup. You can select a partition, DVD disc, or LAN shared location on a local hard disk or mobile hard disk.
Tip: To ensure convenient recovery, we recommend that you store the backup on your local disk. Backup cannot be stored in the partition where Windows 7 is installed. You can only select another partition.
(3) Select the partitions to be backed up. By default, partitions installed on Windows 7 are selected and cannot be modified, as shown in figure 8. Generally, it is enough to select the two partitions.
(4) confirm. In the next step, it will display the selected partitions to be backed up and the storage location of the backup in the form of a list. If there is no error, click "Start backup". Otherwise, click the back button in the upper left corner to reset the settings. A file with the extension vhd is generated.
Tip: Because the partition file used for Windows 7 installation is large, it is mostly 10 Gb or above, and the backup takes a long time.
(5) Hide partitions. In this example, the storage location of the image file is a partition of the local hard disk. To ensure the security of the image file, you can hide this partition. In the "Start" menu, right-click "computer" and select the "manage" command. In the left-side window that appears, expand "Storage> disk management ". In the right-side window, right-click the partition to store the backup, select the "Change drive letter and path" command, and click "delete" in the displayed dialog box.
Note: This operation does not delete a partition. It only deletes the drive letter of the partition (for example, drive E and drive f) so that it cannot be displayed in the "computer" window. In the future, when you use an image to restore your computer, you can display the drive letter as follows: Right-click the partition with the drive letter deleted and select "Change drive letter and path command ", in the displayed dialog box, click "add" and select another one.
(2) Use an image to repair your computer
Restoring a computer with an image can only be achieved by repairing a CD.
(1) start the computer with the repair disc until the page shown in Figure 6 appears. Select "image Repair ".
(2) Select the storage location of the image. First, it will recommend a recent backup for us. The editor reminds you that, unlike restoration, the image can only be created once. Therefore, you can directly select its recommended image.
Tip: if the image file is stored in the shared location of a mobile hard disk or LAN, you can click "advanced" on the recovery interface and select. When a shared location is specified, the path format is \ shared computer name \ shared folder name.
(3) Extract files from image files
In actual use, you may encounter the following situation: After creating an image, the user's file is lost due to misoperations. Can you directly extract the lost file from the image without restoration?
According to Microsoft's instructions on Windows 7 image files, image files cannot be used for partial restoration. However, some files in the image can be extracted after my trial, this is mainly because Windows 7 provides original vhd file support.
The test results show that the extension of the image file generated when the image is created is vhd. You only need to load it as a virtual hard disk through the Disk Manager.
(1) revoke permissions. On the author's computer, the image file is stored at N: \ windowsimagebackup \ bijiben-PC \ B.
Ackup 185007, where bijiben-PC is the author's computer name, 2009-10-14 185007 indicates the date and number of the backup. When you enter these folders, you will receive a permission-related prompt. Please click "undo". After the folder is removed, you will be able to access it normally.
(2) Open disk management. In the "Start" menu, right-click "computer" and select the "manage" command. In the left-side window that appears, expand "Storage> disk management ".
(3) load the vhd file. Click the "Operation> attach vhd" menu command, and click "Browse" in the displayed dialog box to find the vhd file to be loaded. In this case, the system loads the image file into a virtual disk partition and automatically assigns a drive letter.
Double-click the virtual partition in the resource manager to view the files, which are identical to the partition folder structure and files before the backup.
3. Start repair
If the system cannot be started and other causes cannot be found, try "start repair". After this option is selected, the repair disc will automatically scan the startup-related files, check its integrity and reliability, and then replace it with a normal file, which generally solves the problem. During the restoration process, you may be prompted to insert an installation disc for Windows 7 due to the need to replace the file.
The biggest benefit of this repair method is that it does not damage any files of the user and does not affect installed programs. You must first select a system that cannot be started. If not, try restoration and image repair again.
4. Command Prompt
A command prompt is a patent that is well versed in this field. Here, I will show you this issue in the form of an instance, so that you can also become a master.
(1) Fraudulent Window Interface
Instance requirements: The installed Windows 7 cannot be started, and all kinds of repair measures are invalid, so you have to reinstall the system. How can you back up the user files in it? In this example, we will create an out-of-the-box window environment.
(1) start the computer with the repair disc, and select "command prompt" on the Interface shown in figure 6 ".
(2) enter the following command in the Command Prompt window: notepad (this command is used to open the Notepad program ).
(3) After the Notepad program is opened, you only need to click the "file → save as" menu command to open the window Resource Manager, as shown in figure 9. Note that only text files can be viewed at this time. To view all files, select "all files" after "Save type ". If you can see the files in the file, you can copy them to the hard disk partition.
At this point, all the solutions for restoring the system image in Windows 7 are finished. do you understand this? Leave a message if you have any questions!
