This article includes manual setup of Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0 and later to enable PHP to work in Windows 7, and this article is suitable for Windows Server 2008 and Windows that have Windows Vista SP1 installed Server 2008 R2. For information about how to set up IIS 5.1 and IIS 6.0 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, refer to Microsoft IIS 5.1 and IIS 6.0 (possibly English). For instructions on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 IIS 5.1 and IIS 6.0, refer to Microsoft's IIS 5.1 and IIS 6.0, which may be in English.
Enable FASTCGI support in IIS
The IIS fastcgi modules that are installed by default are disabled. It is enabled based on steps that are different from the version of Windows that is being used.
To enable fastcgi support in Windows Vista SP1 and Windows 7, the following actions are required:
Select "Run" in the Windows Start menu, enter "Optionalfeatures.exe" in the dialog box, and click "OK";
In the Windows Features dialog box, expand Internet Information Services, World Wide Web services, application development features, and then enable the CGI check box;
Click "OK" until the installation is complete.
As shown in the following illustration:
To enable FASTCGI support for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2:
Select "Run" in the Windows Start menu, enter "Compmgmtlauncher" and click "OK";
If the current Web server (IIS) role is not based on the roles node, and then click Add Role, it is added;
If the role exists in Web server (IIS), then click Add Role Service, and then enable the "CGI" checkbox for the application Development Group;
Click "Next" and then click "Install" and wait for the installation to complete.
