How to forget the root password in Red Hat Linux

I forgot the root password of the system a few days ago. I don't know how to solve it. I found a solution on the Internet to share it with you.

When the system selection interface appears, press "E" on the options of Red Hat Linux, and three options will appear, press the "e" key on the second item similar to "kernel/vmlinuz-2.4.20-8 Ro root = label =/" and add "single" before "Ro" or "root ", then press enter to return. Press the "B" key to start, enter the character interface, when "sh-2.05b #" appears, it means that has entered the single user mode. Now, enter "passwd root" to reset the root password. After the configuration is complete, restart reboot and use the password you just set to enter the Linux system.
