How to import other VMFS storage on the ESX server

ESX Server recommends using a VMFS file system for use as a virtual machine store, but VMFS is only a cluster class file system dedicated to VMware, so reading to the Vmfs file system can be a bit of a hassle.

When you reinstall the ESX SERVER, or a VMFS STORAGE that is migrated from elsewhere, you need to reactivate the new Vmfs STORAGE.

Using VI Method:

First, the Lvm.disallowsnapshotlun switch is set to 1 in the Advanced Setting--->lvm, the lvm.enableresignaturing switch is set to 1, and then the advanced Setting--->storage adapters--->rescan. Can be seen in the storage.

Using the command-line method:

After you log in with SSH, execute:

Echo 1 >/proc/vmware/config/lvm/enableresignature

Echo 1 >/proc/vmware/config/lvm/disallowsnapshotlun

And then execute:

Vmkfstools-s
