How to improve network routing efficiency

A lan is connected to an Internet network, which allows LAN users to surf the Internet and obtain a large amount of information resources. Therefore, the establishment of a LAN has become the only way to promote the informatization development of enterprises. As a router connecting the LAN internal network and the Internet "Hub", it plays an important role in the entire network connection, therefore, maintenance and management of LAN router equipment is an essential "Major" for network administrators of every organization ". In order to make LAN routing work more efficient, I will contribute to the management skills of several vrouters I have summarized in my practical work, hoping to play a role!

1. Use commands to view port status

Checking the working status of the relevant communication port is a common task of maintaining the router, because this is the first step to judge whether the router is faulty. The communication ports of a vro generally include Ethernet ports and serial ports. When you view the working status of these ports, you can use the show interface Command provided by the vro to complete the task. For example, when determining whether the Ethernet communication port works normally, we can log on to the vro's background management interface and switch the background interface to the "router #" command line status, at the command line prompt, enter the string command "show interface ethernet x" (x indicates the specific port number ), after clicking the Enter key, we can determine from the subsequent execution results whether the current Ethernet port is faulty. In addition, when we cannot determine whether a specific port has a physical fault, we can also execute the "shown version" command at the command prompt to display the rational and normal Ethernet port, if a specific port has a physical fault, the port will not be displayed.

In addition to viewing the working status of the Ethernet port, we can also use the show interface command in the "router #" command line to check whether the working status of the serial port of the router is normal. For example, to check whether serial port 1 has a working fault, you can enter the string command "show interface serial 1" at the "router #" command prompt ", after you click the Enter key, the link status of Serial Port 1 is displayed. Similarly, when we are not sure whether a specific serial port has a physical fault, we may execute the string command "shown version". Then the router system will automatically display the physical serial port, the serial ports with physical faults cannot be displayed.

2. cleverly enable the routing Broadcast Function

Generally, Windows 2000 workstations have the "ICMP Route Discovery" function. The workstation can automatically listen to the broadcast information of the ICMP router to obtain the most appropriate gateway parameters. However, by default, the workstation does not enable the "ICMP Route disute" function. To enable the workstation to automatically listen to the broadcast information of the ICMP Router, follow these steps to enable the "ICMP Route Discovery" function on the workstation:

Log on to the local workstation system as a system administrator, and click Start and run menus one by one on the desktop. In the displayed system run box, enter the "Regedit" string command and click the Enter key to go to the registry editing window of the local system;

Next, select the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" Registry branch option, and then select the "System \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ Tcpip \ Parameters" Registry subitem, under the "Parameters" branch option, check whether the dual-byte value "batch mrouterdiscovery" exists. If it cannot be found, click the "edit", "new", and "Dword" commands in the menu bar of the registry editing window, and set the new double-byte key value name to "PerformRouterDiscovery ";

Next, double-click the PerformRouterDiscovery key to open the Edit Dword dialog box shown in 1, fill in the number "1" in the value data text box, and then click "OK" to return to the main editing page;

Next, select the "System \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ adaptername \ Parameters \ Tcpip" option under the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" branch (where adaptername is the NIC value of the local NIC device ), create a dual-byte value named "SolicitationAddressBcast" under the corresponding "Tcpip" branch option, and adjust the value of this key value to "1 ", click OK to complete registry editing and restart the local workstation system.

3. cleverly enable the routing listening Function

When a Windows 2000 Workstation is installed with multiple Nic devices and is connected to multiple subnets at the same time, we often need to manually configure the corresponding subnet gateway address for each Nic device in the workstation. Obviously, this configuration operation is troublesome. In fact, we only need to first enable the RIP broadcast information function in the router in the LAN, and then enable the routing listening function in the workstation. In this case, we do not need to configure each Nic device in sequence, this allows the workstation to intelligently communicate with different subnets. As general routers have enabled the RIP broadcast information function, all we need to do is to start the routing listening function of the Windows 2000 Workstation. The following describes how to start it:

First, log on to the Windows 2000 Workstation system, and click the start, set, and control panel menu commands one by one on the desktop of the system, double-click the "Add/delete programs" icon in the pop-up window to open the "Add/delete programs" setting window for the local workstation, click the "Add/delete Windows Components" tab in the window, and select the "Network Service" project on the corresponding option settings page;

Click "details" in the corresponding interface to open the list interface shown in 2, select the "RIP listener" option, and click "OK, then, follow the on-screen prompts to correctly Insert the installation disc of the Windows 2000 system, so that the system will automatically complete the remaining configuration operations. After the configuration operation is complete, we will restart the workstation system, in this way, the RIP listening function of the Windows 2000 Workstation is enabled. Later, when a router in the lan sends RIP broadcast information to the outside world, the local workstation will be able to complete the configuration of each gateway through automatic monitoring.

  2. Vrouters facilitate Network Management
  3. Efficiency of LAN operation to vro settings
