Install My Weather Indicator on Ubuntu

My Weather Indicator cannot be obtained directly from the Ubuntu software store. However, developers provide us with the. deb installation package and officially maintained PPA (for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and 14.10 ).

To ensure that your application is in the latest version, we recommend that you add the Atareao PPA to your software image source and install it through PPA.

How?Open a new terminalWindow (Unity Dash> terminal, or press Ctrl + Alt + T), and thenEnter the following two linesDuring this period, you need to enter your system password at the prompt:

Configure My Weather Indicator

No matter how you install the application, you can search for "weather" in Unity Dash and click the application to open it.

The following Configuration window appears when the application is opened for the first time. Here, you can manually set the region or use geo-ip to automatically obtain the region. Or sometimes it may not be accurate enough, but it can save the manual setting process.

If you are traveling (or chatting ),You can add a second region. This setting is the same as that for the first region, but it only appears in the "second region" tab bar.

In theWidget settings"Area, select"Show desktop Widgets"Option will add a small weather widget on your desktop. Widgets provide many different skins, so you must carefully select one of your favorite widgets (Note: click "OK" to save changes to the widgets ).

My Weather Indicator uses Open Weather Map as the default Weather data provider. However, you can'Weather Services'Select another data provider in the Panel (the API key must be provided if there is a * mark ):

  • Open Weather Map
  • Yahoo! Weather
  • Weather Underground *
  • World Weather Online *

In'Units'Tab, you can set the unit of temperature, pressure, wind speed, and other data. These settings apply to all added regions, that is, you cannot use degrees Celsius in one region, or degrees Fahrenheit in another region.

Finally, on the 'general options' tab, you can set the data update interval, set the automatic running Options on startup, and select one of the two icons as the panel icon.
