VMware tools enables you to copy text, files, and so on between hosts <-> virtual machines. This article describes how to install VMware tools in a VMware Ubuntu Linux virtual machine. test Environment:

Choose from the VMware menu, virtual machine--> update VMware Tools

Mount the virtual CD drive on the client, start the terminal, use tar to extract the installer, and then perform the vmware-install.pl installation of VMware Tools.
STEP2 Decompression Vmwaretools
On the vmwaretools-xxxx.tar.gz above the right mouse button to select Extract, and then select the extracted address, I am ready to extract the files to the TMP folder:
Select the other location--> computer--> tmp STEP3 Navigate to the unpacked directory and execute the vmware-install.pl
Navigate to the Extract directory Tmp/vmware-tools-distrib

Perform
sudo./vmware-install.pl
Then follow the prompts to install. After installation, you can use Copy-paste to copy the text from the virtual machine. Here is my copy of the installation dialog.
