This document provides the same method for installing Ubuntu 15.04 on a Windows USB flash drive. It can be used as an overall tutorial for installing Ubuntu.

Upgrade to Ubuntu 15.04 online:

Upgrade from Ubuntu 14.04/Ubuntu 14.10:

Sudo apt-get update

Sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Install update-manager-core and use the following command:

Sudo apt-get install update-manager-core

Sudo do-release-upgrade-d

This tutorial is applicable to Windows/XP/7/8/8.1 + Ubuntu/UbuntuKylin dual systems. Other Derivative versions of Ubuntu are also supported, including Deepin. The ultraISO software is recommended to download the original official website version. Other Website versions may be burned successfully, but the installation system may be faulty.

The installation requires:

1. Ubuntu 15.04 system image selects 32/64 bits (32 bits are recommended. Now many software still need 32 bits library file support, and the 64-bit function is powerful, however, it is easy to install 32-bit libraries, which is difficult to install ).

2. I have more than 10 Gb hard disk space available. The more space the better, the more I use 60 GB.

3. A blank U disk or CD of at least 1 GB is used to burn an image. If your computer supports usb boot, select a usb flash drive. Otherwise, you can only use a CD.

4. EasyBCD, Because Ubuntu boot is different from Win7 boot, do not use Ubuntu boot to start Win7 (just as I do not understand the principle of system boot, it is better to follow the tutorial honestly ). After the download, install it directly in Windows.

Start installation:

1. create a blank space for the hard disk to install Ubuntu. If you do not use the Windows home version, you do not need a tool. Choose "Start Menu"> "my computer"> "manage"> "Storage"> "disk management" (local) for example, if your d disk has 60 GB free space and you want to use 40 Gb for ubuntu installation, click the D disk, right-click and select "compressed volume". Then, in the pop-up window, enter "Enter the volume of compressed space" and enter 40000, and continue until the end.

2. Burn the Ubuntu image to your USB flash drive or CD. You can use ultraISO to burn the image to the USB flash drive.

3. restart the computer, just like installing windows, to enable the drive or USB device, and insert your USB flash drive or CD. The following figure appears:

Press a key or space on the keyboard.

Then select Simplified Chinese

Choose to install Ubuntu (try Ubuntu just like Windows PE)

Select Chinese again, and then click Next, for example, check the last option. Continue

In the next step, you can select do not connect to the Internet. If your wifi works, you can also connect

This step is very important. Some of my friends chose the first one? Select the third one. (Note: If you select "Delete and reinstall", all content created in Windows, including drive letters such as D, E, and F, must be carefully formatted .)

In the open disk management, we can see the compressed space, with the word "idle" in the front. What we need to do is to partition Ubuntu in this free space, I used to divide it like this: the boot partition "/boot" m is enough, and the system partition "/" can provide at least 20 GB for installing the system and software, the swap partition "swap" is similar to the Windows virtual memory, which is generally not larger than the physical memory. My file partition "/home", which is similar to "my documents" in Windows"

Click "idle" partition and select "add" below

The pop-up window is as follows: Fill in the partition space above, fill in the partition to be mounted below, and then confirm ." /"Partition,"/home "partitions are created in this way, and the swap partition must be" used "to" select "swap partition"

Set the partition. Next step is critical !!!

First, let's look at the ID of the "/boot" partition you created above, for example, my ID is sda6 (You may not be sda6, sda5, or sda7, depends on your/boot Partition Number), select "sda6" in the "device in the boot guide installation" drop-down box below. If this step is ignored, you use Ubuntu to guide windows.

After you finish this, you can proceed with peace of mind. The following is nothing more than the user name and password. In linux, you must set the password.

After installing and removing the USB flash disk and restarting it, you will find that you directly access your windows system, because we have obtained the boot partition. We need to use EasyBCD to select windows or ubuntu when it is created and started. This is very simple.

Open easyBCD, select add new entry, select linux/BSD, and enter the name line as needed. It's just a system term. Write ubuntu, the Device line selects the "/boot" partition of the just-created MB, with the linux mark on the front. For example, PS: EasyBCD is very powerful. If you don't understand it, do not mess up it. It may damage MBR.

After restarting the system, select Ubuntu, and access the Ubuntu system normally. That's all.

When you do not want Ubuntu, you can directly Delete the partition where it is located on the disk in the Window, and then delete its boot in Easybcd without affecting your Windows system, this is why Ubuntu is not used to guide Windows.
