Due to the course requirement, I have to install Slackware on one of the following tops. I searched how to install it through baidu and google.
Most of the method is about how to install the version before 14.0, even the installation guide in the slackware official website is not about how to install the latest version.
There are changing in the 14.0 version. I don't see any image whose suffix is I or s in the downloaded packages.
In baidu, there are some posts about how to install 14.0 or 14.1, but they don't work. they use ultraISO to burn the dvd package or the source package to U stick. the iso can be burned to a U stick, the U stick doesn't work. I try the dvd package and source package. neither of them works.
Please read carefully about the preconditions.
Slackware 14.1
Ubuntu (or some other linux)
U stick which is greater than 3G.
1. First download the dvd package from http://www.slackware.com/getslack/torrents.php
2. unzip the iso file
3. format the U stick
4. go to slackware64-14.1-iso \ slackware64-14.1-install-dvd \ usb-and-pxe-installers
5. run the sh file as follows
Sudo./usbimg2disk. sh-f-s/home/ftp/pub/slackware-13.0 (the path of your unzip iso file)-o/dev/sdX (your USB stick)
6. Maybe there will be some error in the 5th step, please try more times. If you know the error, please do some adjustment according to the error message. Otherwise, try more times.
7. You can use df to check if it is writing to your USB stick. Because the dvd file it too large 2.3G, it need some time to write to your USB stick.
After all the files are written to the USB stick, you can reboot your machine and make the "boot from USB" as the first boot option. Then you can install slackware.
Installation
1. type huge. s
2. make partition. I suggest that you use cfdisk to make the partition. you can make 4 primary partition. one for swap, one for/home, one for/usr and one /. you must assign one of the partition as boot and save (write) it.
3. after that, you can type setup.
4. choose target to assign the 4 different partitions to/,/home,/usr
5. you can install.
Set the password for lilo (grub)
I forget the complete the command, I will fix it later. If you have any questions, please let me know.
1. grub-n
2. vi/etc/grub/
