You can install g'mic 1.5.8.5 (Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 14 Nadia linux Mint 13 Maya and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna)

Open the terminal and enter the following command:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp-experimental
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gmic

This is the GIMP plug-in. The PPA command for installing GIMP is as follows (Gimp 2.8.8 is provided by this PPA ):
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gimp

Download g'mic from other systems:

G'mic 1.5.8.5
