How to install or delete fonts in Windows

Reinstall the standard font that comes with Windows
The following fonts are attached to Windows. These fonts are installed on each computer.
• Courier New (TrueType, including bold, italic, and bold italic variants)
• Arial (TrueType, including bold, italic, and bold italic variants)
• Times New Roman (TrueType, including bold, italic, and bold italic variants)
• Symbol (TrueType)
• Wingdings (TrueType)
• MS serif
• MS sans serif
If any of the standard fonts attached to windows are missing, you can run the Windows installer again. The installer adds missing files or replaces the changed files. If these standard fonts are missing, other Windows files may also be missing. However, the installer can solve these problems.
Note:In Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP, and Microsoft Windows Server 2003, only Administrators can add or delete fonts.
Add new font
Windows supports TrueType fonts or fonts specifically designed for windows. You can purchase these fonts. Some programs also include some special fonts installed as part of the program installation. In addition, printers often come with TrueType or special windows fonts. Install these fonts according to the instructions attached to these products.
Manually install or reinstall the font:
1. Click start and then click Run ".
2. Type % WINDIR %/fonts and click OK ".
3. On the File menu, click New ".
4. In the drive box, click the floppy disk or optical drive that contains the font you want to add or the CD-ROM. If you want to install the font from a floppy disk, it is usually done from drive a or drive B. If you want to install fonts from a disc, you need to use a CD-ROM drive, which is typically drive D. Double-click the folder containing these fonts.
5. Click the font you want to add. To select multiple fonts at a time, hold down the ctrl key and click each font.
6. Click the "Copy font to fonts folder" check box. The fonts attached to windows are stored in the Windows/fonts folder.
7. Click OK ".
Delete font
Delete font from hard disk:
1. Click start and then click Run ".
2. Type % WINDIR %/fonts and click OK ".
3. Click the font you want to delete. If you want to select more than one file or folder at a time, hold down the ctrl key and click each file.
4. Click Delete on the File menu ".
5. When you receive "are you sure you want to delete these fonts ?" Click "yes" when prompted ". To disable font loading without deleting the font from the hard disk, move the font from the fonts folder to another folder. This method can be used for troubleshooting. This process does not completely delete the font because the font registry information is not deleted. However, the font cannot be loaded.
