Standard fonts shipped with Windows

The following fonts are included in Windows. These fonts are installed on each computer.
Courier New (TrueType, including several variants of bold, italic, and bold italic)
Arial (TrueType, including bold, italic, and bold italic variants)
times New Roman (TrueType, including several variants of bold, italic, and bold italic)
symbol (TRUETYPE)
Wingdings (TrueType)
Ms Serif
Ms Sans Serif

If you are missing any of the standard fonts that are included with Windows, you can rerun Windows Installer. The installer will add the missing files or replace the files that have changed. If these standard fonts are missing, additional Windows files may also be missing. However, Setup can resolve these issues.

Note In Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP, and Microsoft Windows Server 2003, only administrators can add and remove fonts.

Add New Font

Windows supports TrueType fonts or fonts specifically designed for Windows that can be purchased. Some programs also include special fonts that are installed as part of a program installation. In addition, the printer often comes with TrueType or special Windows fonts. Follow the instructions that came with these products to install the fonts.

To manually install or reinstall fonts:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. Type%windir%fonts, and then click OK.

3. On the File menu, click New.

4. In the Drive box, click the floppy disk or CD-ROM that contains the font you want to add. If you are installing fonts from a floppy disk, this is usually done from drive A or drive B. If you are installing fonts from a CD, you need to use a CD-ROM drive, which is typically drive D. Double-click the folder that contains the fonts.

5. Click the font you want to add. To select more than one font at a time, keep holding down the CTRL key while you click each font.

6. Click to select the Copy fonts to Fonts folder check box. The fonts that are included with Windows are stored in the Windowsfonts folder.

7. Click "OK"
