There are two ways to install the Eclipse plug-in: Online installation and manual installation.
Online installation is relatively simple:
Click Help> install new software ..
This will pop out a new window;
Click Add;
Enter a name after name (you can name it at will), enter the URL in location, and click OK. (Note that if you have installed this plug-in, you cannot click OK, if you want to update the plug-in, you must first remove the installed plug-in.) then, wait until the system finds the plug-in, and check the plug-in to be installed, the next step is the next step. After the installation, restart eclipse.
Next, let's talk about how to install manually: There are two ways to install manually:
Method 1: There is a plugins directory in the main directory of eclipse (eclipse_home, for example, the directory installed on my machine is: D: \ eclipse, the plug-in installation in this method is very simple. You only need to copy the plug-in to this directory. For example, I downloaded a compressed package of the ADT (ADT plugin for eclipse) plug-in. After opening it, I can see that this compressed package contains two folders (features and plugins ), I will put these two folders directly under the % eclipse_home % \ plugins directory (but to facilitate future management of the plug-in, it is best to create a folder and name it the name of the plug-in and its version number, put these two folders in the new folder), and restart eclipse.
Method 2: Create a links directory under the eclipse directory (eclipse_home), and place your plug-ins wherever you want, at this time, you put the plug-in directory, and I will call it the plug-in directory (plugin_home), and then create a link file under your % eclipse_home % \ links \ directory, for example, if you want to install the plug-in the plugins folder. link (preferably named as the plug-in name + version above) file content is:
Path = D :\\ eclipse \ plugins \\
When installing the plug-in, you must note that if you are a separate JAR file, you 'd better create such a directory under the directory specified by the link file: Eclipse \ plugins \ XXX. XXX (plug-in name and version number), and then put the JAR file in this directory.
After installing the plug-in, you need to restart eclipse to see the plug-in. If a plug-in has been installed and you want to reinstall it, you only need to replace the file or modify the link file path. If you cannot recognize the plug-in, it may be that your plug-in does not support your current eclipse version. Please check. It may also be caused by system configuration. Once I appeared, my solution was to delete all the files in the configuration directory under eclipse_home, with the remaining config. ini files.
Note:
1. Plug-ins can be installed in multiple custom directories.
2. Multiple plug-ins can be installed in a custom directory.
3. The link file name and extension can be any name, such as myplugin or yourplugin.
4. The link file can have multiple lines of Path = plug-in Directory, which corresponds to multiple custom plug-in directories. The path parameter of each line will take effect.
5. There can also be multiple link files in the links directory, and the path parameter in each link file will take effect.
6. The plug-in directory can also use the relative path. If we create the myplugin directory in the eclipse installation directory, as shown in
D: \ eclipse directory, you only need to set Path = myplugin.
