As many developers know, the Ubuntu software source is not the latest version of Eclipse, and this tutorial teaches you how to quickly install the latest version of Eclipse's official release in Ubuntu 14.04.

1. Installing OPENJDK Java 7

2. Add PPA Source

2. Download the latest Eclipse version

3. Unzip Eclipse
Use Ctrl+alt+t to open the terminal and extract Eclipse to the/opt/directory for global use using the following command:
cd/opt/&& sudo tar-zxvf ~/download/eclipse-*.tar.gz
Once the decompression is complete, you can see Eclipse in the/opt/directory.
4. Create an Eclipse shortcut
1. Execute the following command in the terminal
Gksudo Gedit/usr/share/applications/eclipse.desktop
2. Paste and save the following content

Name=eclipse 4
Type=application
Exec=/opt/eclipse/eclipse
Terminal=false
icon=/opt/eclipse/icon.xpm
comment=integrated Development environment
Nodisplay=false
Categories=development;ide;
Name[en]=eclipse
