The beta version of the NVIDIA for Linux driver 331.17 has been released. This version fixes some bugs and unifies the NVIDIA memory kernel module. This tutorial is applicable to Ubuntu 13.10, 13.04, and 12.04.
Two installation methods are introduced here:
1. Download the official installation package directly:
Download the Nvidia 33.17 Beta installation package officially, including two versions:
For 32 bit Ubuntu Linux
For 64 bit Ubuntu Linux
After the download is complete, press Ctrl + Alt + F1 to switch to the console TTY1, log on with your username and password, and then run the following command to stop the X server:
Sudo service lightdm stop
Add permission:
Chmod + x ~ /Downloads/NVIDIA-Linux-*-331.17.run
Run the installation command:
Sudo sh ~ /Downloads/NVIDIA-Linux-*-331.17.run
2. Use PPA for installation. Open the terminal and enter:
Sudo add-apt-repository ppa: xorg-edgers/ppa
Sudo apt-get update
Sudo apt-get install nvidia-331
