Background (hardware platform): I have a built-in hard disk and Western data, A Windows XP Pro system has been installed above (this hard disk is displayed as 'hda 'in the partition management program of the Ubuntu installation program '). My external USB hard drive is Seagate, 40 GB in size, and movable; I bought it for $120 at wolma.
Tip: before installing the system, you 'd better set the CDROM as the first boot disk and the USB device as the second boot disk in your BIOS. Otherwise, you will have trouble in the next step. (If you have any omissions, please correct them !)
Important: do not forget that linux is case sensitive, whether it is a file name or a directory name. (The difference between upper case and lower case is great .) For example, in linux, there is a file named "DaBruGo" and a file named "dabrugo". They are two completely different files.
