This section describes how to install and deploy Windows 8 on a mobile hard disk under Windows 7. After we install Windows 8 on the mobile hard disk, we can start and use Win8 on the mobile hard disk.
In this way, you can carry a mobile hard disk with you and plug it into any other computer for direct use. Is it very convenient.
Step 1. Prepare the system partition of the mobile hard disk
1. First, we connect the mobile hard disk to the computer. Select "computer", right-click, and select "manage ". Then, find "Disk Management" in the left pane, as shown in the following figure:
2. Find our mobile hard drive in the right pane.
Note: do not select the wrong disk. Check the disk capacity and partition.
We recommend that you delete all the original partitions on the mobile hard disk. The detailed operation steps are shown below.
3. In the undivided space on the mobile hard disk, right-click to create a new volume, as shown in the following figure:
Note: it is recommended that the size of the new partition be around 50 GB, which is about 50000 MB.
4. After the primary partition is created, activate the new partition. Select the created partition, right-click it, and select "Mark partition as active partition", as shown in the following figure:
Note: remember the hard disk partition drive letter we just created. Here the drive letter is "H: Disk"
Step 2. Prepare Win8 images and deployment tools
1. Open the Win8 CD or image, find the "sources" directory under the CD directory, and click enter directory, as shown in the following figure:
2. Find the "install. wim" file, which is a Win8 installation image file, as shown in the following figure:
3. Here, I copy the install. wim file to drive D, as shown in the following figure:
4. Next, copy the mongoimagex.exe file to disk D. This tool can be searched and downloaded online, or downloaded from my online storage. Baidu go to download address: http://pan.baidu.com/share/link? Consumer id = 133833 & uk = 1056977117. Download the package and decompress it to the hard drive of your computer.
Step 3: migrate Win8 image to mobile hard disk partition
1. After the partitioning, deployment tools, and Win8 images of the mobile hard disk are ready, we can start deploying Win8 to the mobile hard disk.
2. Click Start> All Programs> attachments, find the "command prompt", right-click it, and select "run as administrator" from the menu, as shown in the following figure:
Note: run the command prompt as an administrator.
3. Enter "d:" In the command prompt to enter the disk d. Run the "dir" command to view the prepared Win8 image and deployment tool, as shown in the following figure:
4. Then, input the command "register imagex.exe/apply install. wim 1 h:" and press enter on the drive. This command will deploy the install. wim image in the current directory to the H disk on the mobile hard disk, as shown in the following figure:
Note: Here h: refers to the system boot partition on the mobile hard disk (the drive letter we saw when we created it in disk management ), replace it with your own drive letter.
5. Wait patiently for a while and you will see the figure below, indicating that the disk has been successfully deployed. Because the read/write speed of the mobile hard disk is relatively fast, it takes about 18 minutes;
6. Next, this step is very important. The Win8 installation file has been written to the hard disk, but the boot cannot be started. Therefore, we also need to write the H drive on the mobile hard disk, that is, the boot partition of Win8, to the system boot file.
Enter "bcdboot h: windows/s h:" In the command prompt, and press enter, as shown in the following figure.
Note: Here h: refers to the system boot partition on the mobile hard disk (the drive letter we saw when we created it in disk management ), replace it with your own drive letter.
7. Wait a moment and you will see the prompt "the startup file has been created successfully", as shown in the following figure:
Step 4. Start and install Win8 with a mobile hard disk
1. Restart the computer, press the "F12" key to enter the boot sequence selection list of the computer, and select our mobile hard disk (the usb hdd is our mobile hard disk), as shown in the following figure:
Note: The computer models are different, and the BIOS of the motherboard is different. The keys in the boot sequence selection list may be different. If the motherboard does not support hot keys to enter the boot sequence, you can manually enter the BIOS to change the boot sequence.
2. Wait for a while and wait for the system to enter the installation stage. The Enter activation code page is displayed, as shown in the following figure:
