Download Yosemite, format the disk, run the following command to make the OS X boot disk

Sudo/applications/install\ os\ x\ Yosemite.app/contents/resources/createinstallmedia--volume/volumes/untitled-- Applicationpath/applications/install\ os\ x\ Yosemite.app--nointeraction How to make Fusion drive. Starting from the U disk, go to the disk utility and format the SSD and HHD separately. Then enter the console and run the following command.

The first instruction, please enter the following instruction in the terminal, and press input:

Diskutil List

After entering the instructions above, all the disk information will be shown below, and we need to isolate the SSD and HDD partition. Take Stanley's SSD as an example, find it and see the size of the volume is right, it is ahead of the Disk0 is the SSD's disk.

In the case of Stanley's HDD, 750GB capacity is the disk14 of the front. So Stanley's two disk tokens for Fusion drive are disk0 and disk14, and each person's computer is not necessarily the same, so remember your own two.

Once you have found the two disks, you will merge them into a disk, and enter the following instructions:

Where the word "Fusion" can be named, it is the name of the disk, the back of the Disk0 and disk1 please enter your own computer just found on the two disk tokens. Finally, finished Corestorage operation is finished.

Diskutil CS Create Fusion Disk0 Disk1

Again, please enter the following instructions to list some of the information about the completed disk, which will be used:

Diskutil CS List

After the above instruction has been entered, the following information will be available, please find the information of logical Volume Group:

Then please use the logical Volume Group sequence number (UUID) with the mouse cursor, and press the key to quickly click on it. +c.

Then enter the following instruction, in which part of the UUID, please press the keyboard quick key? The +v is labeled "Macintosh Fusion", which is named after the hard drive, and you can name it "Macintosh HD". If you are going to return the system from the TimeMachine, please enter the same hard drive as the previous one to show the name, which is not a problem.

Diskutil corestorage Createvolume stickers on the previous UUID jhfs+ "Macintosh Fusion" 100%

The next thing is to wait for the system to make the two hard drives into fusion drive, and finally the finished corestorage operation is done.

The above Fusion drive has been finished, and it's time to see if you want to get back to the system from TimeMachine, or to reinstall OS X on your machine.

If you're going to reinstall OS X, you'll see the hard drive in your computer, which has become a fusion drive with a merged capacity.

Activate SSD trim feature

2014/10/18 Update the Trim enabler is currently incompatible in 10.10 and may be waiting to be updated.

Fear that some friends do not know the trim function, and after the fusion drive, even if the original use of the TRIM function will be closed, to re-activate, is to remind everyone.

The TRIM function directive is the SSD's savior, SSD because of the innate reading characteristics, the longer the use time, the performance will continue to fall, and the trim instruction is compelling when you delete the information, the SSD will be in the background to perform a thorough emptying of the motion, this action will not affect the use of life, and will maintain the highest performance on SSD theory.

After 10.7, OS X has the native Trim function directive, but only for the original factory's SSD, if it is our own modified SSD, can be through a small program trim Enabler to activate the trim function.

Perform the trim Enabler, open the opening, and then re-start the machine. (not necessarily all SSDs are in trim enabler support.) )

If the trim enabler has a supported SSD, after the restart, the Ssd,trim support in the "More Information >> system report for this mac>>" option will show "Yes".

Actually test speed

After creating the Fusion drive yourself, it's not unusual to test the speed of reading, but first, because Stanley's mid 2010 13-inch MBP only has a SATA 2 speed, only supports the 3.0gbit/s, and the SSD part is only earlier purchased Intel 320 series 120GB, so the speed is only half of the current mainstream SSD, so the speed will be as follows, if your computer support to SATA 3, and SSD is the current mainstream SSD, I believe that read and write run to 300mb/s~400mb/s above is not the problem.

In fact, this test of Fusion drive is not a point of meaning, because just start to read the Fusion drive, basically is directly to use SSDs to access, then the system will be the size of the file, using the frequency of the file to be retained or transferred to the part of the HDD, So the speed of reading and writing is basically testing the speed of SSD reading. The fact that Fusion drive is really helpful to us is that it takes a long time to use it to reveal his strengths.

But after Fusion drive, Li can feel the difference is that we will two separate hard drives together as one, no more trouble worries, which things are commonly used, need to put on SSDs, which are big files, to put in HDD, all to the system to deal with it, Compatible with Mac's Lazy people philosophy!

Finally, let's take a look at the advantages of Fusion drive:

Two hard disk ssd+hdd are synthesized into a large HDD, without the trouble of worries file management problems.

Reading speed and performance are adjusted by the system to use SSDs when high-speed reading is required, and HDD is required for large capacity.

You can use Boot camp to install windows!! (RAID 0 compared to a dual HDD.) The Apple support file says yes, but Stanley's installation has encountered some problems and is still in the process of resolving problems. )

As long as the SSD is partially hung up, all the information should be gone. (so it's suggested to work with an external hard drive, "time to Time" to make a copy of the motion.) )

There will be a lot more electricity consumed. (An SSD, a HDD hard drive must be more power-consuming.) )

There are no built-in CD-ROM machines. (There are very few opportunities for a CD-ROM machine, and it takes time to use the external.) )

The above is Stanley's own fusion drive to share the teaching, to provide you with the reference, the last is to remind you that when the hardware disassembly, please be careful kan, enter the terminal machine command also please be careful not to hit the wrong word, and Stanley is currently only in their mid 2010 Built on 13 "MBP, it doesn't mean that all Macs with a CD-ROM can be successful or have no inherited disease, so please take any risks and do a good job, thank you.
