Knowledge Point Analysis: now the Windows 8 system not only supports BIOS startup, but also supports UEFI startup, but the win PE that we make or download with the normal method, usually does not support the UEFI boot, but only supports the legacy BIOS startup way, In fact, to allow the normal PE support UEFI BIOS boot, only need to do a few steps or settings can be.
Operation steps:

Let's take a look at the differences in the win PE boot process between the two types of bios:

Legacy BIOS boot PE:

CD-ROM (or U disk) Guide Information →\bootmgr→\boot\bcd→\...\boot.wim

UEFI BIOS boot PE:

CD-ROM (or U disk) boot Information →\bootmgr.efi→\efi\boot\bootx64.efi (if 32-bit PE this file is Bootia32.efi) →\efi\microsoft\boot\bcd→\...\boot.wim

Therefore, to produce a PE that supports both the legacy BIOS and the UEFI BIOS boot, you must have all the files mentioned above, and you must also ensure that the Boot.wim file path that the BCD menu points to is correct.

Production Method:

1, the preparation of a U disk, format to FAT32 (must be formatted as FAT32, because UEFI only support FAT32 format). Then use Uiso software to write the image of win PE to u disk;

2, the use of Uiso software from the Windows system packing directory to extract bootmgr.efi files, and copy to the root directory of U disk;

3, the use of Uiso software from the Windows system packing directory to extract EFI folder, and copy to the root directory of U disk; note here, if 32-bit win PE, need to copy from 32-bit system disk under the EFI folder, 64-bit win PE will need to copy 64-bit system disk under the EFI While the kernel is Windows 7 PE (that is, PE3.0), files need to be extracted from the Windows 7 system disk, the kernel is Windows 8 PE (that is, PE4.0), and files need to be extracted from Windows 8 system disk;

4, modify the U disk under the Efi\microsoft\boot\bcd file, you can use Bootice this tool to edit the BCD menu to ensure that the BCD menu points to the Boot.wim file path is correct:

The device file is the WIM file location of PE, which can be changed according to the actual situation.

After completing the 4 steps above, your PE can now be guided in UEFI mode.
