Cpanel is a web-based Web-based control panel that simplifies many common system administration tasks, such as site creation, database deployment, and management. This guide shows you how to use the Cpanel user account to manage domains and databases. All of these instructions are related to user logins located on port 2082 (2083 for SSL connections).

Manage domain Names

There are three types of domain names that can be associated with your cpanel account: The primary domain name, the additional domain name, and the parked domain name. Your primary domain name cannot be changed, unless your account or root has the domain name. Subdomains, additional domains, and parked domain names can be managed in the Domain name section.

The Domain Name section also allows you to add or remove one or CNAME records from your domain name. Any default entry needs to be modified by someone with the appropriate access rights (ex: a reseller with your account or root user).

Sub domain

You can manage subdomains in the sub-domains section of the cpanel. Domain name. To add a subdomain name, enter the subdomain name in the Subdomain field, and then click the Document Root field. A location is automatically entered for you, as shown below.

After you add a subdomain, you can click the Go Back button to manage the redirection of the sub-domain name, or delete it altogether, as shown below.

Additional domain names

After you add the additional domain name, you can click the Go Back button to manage redirection of your attached domain name, or delete it altogether, as shown below.

Dock Domain Name

A docked domain name allows you to point to a different domain name on your account. Then they will put your domain name on it:

In the example above, "http://www.bandwagonvps.com/" is serving the content of your master cpanel domain. You can modify it to provide any domain name content that you like. Instead, to provide content for your additional domain name "bandwagonvps.com", click the Manage Redirection button and enter bandwagonvps.com in the fields shown below.

Creating databases and MySQL users

The Manage database icon under the database section of cpanel will allow you to create databases, create users for those databases, add users to the database, and specify the permissions each user should have. Let's start with the creation of a database.

Now that you have created a database, you need a user to access it. You can add a user under the Add Database section, as shown below.

After you have created the user, you can add the user to the database at the bottom of the MySQL database page, as shown below.

After you select the users you want to add to the database, click the Add button. On the next screen, you will be able to select the user's permissions to the database. You can select them individually, or select the all privileges at the top check box, as shown below.

Managing Databases

Now that you have established the database and the user, you can start managing the database. Cpanel contains the phpMyAdmin for database management. Here's how to access phpMyAdmin:

1. Click the Home button at the top of the page and scroll down to the Cpanel database section.

2. Click the phpMyAdmin icon to open its interface in a new window.

3. On the left, you will see a list of databases. Select the database you want to open, as shown below.

Now you can start working on the database. If you have. You want to use the SQL file to set up the database and populate it, select the Import tab at the top of the screen. You can browse your website. SQL file and upload it to the database.
