In addition, because the BIOS code file must be written to the BIOS chip of the motherboard, a corresponding BIOS refresh tool and the BIOS code file of the motherboard MUST be provided. The BIOS code file of the motherboard can be downloaded from the website of the motherboard manufacturer, or you can use a refresh tool to save the BIOS on the motherboard. The motherboard used for this experiment is the 3VCA motherboard of EPoX. the BIOS upgrade file downloaded from the internet is 3vca. 39. rename it 3vca. bin, because modbin recognizes the default BIOS file extension as bin. Since the following operations will change the BIOS file, it is best to back up the file first. After everything is ready, proceed to the next step.
Run the modbin software in the MS-DOS window and use its "Load File" menu item to mount the BIOS File. Here you choose to mount the 3vca. binfile. You can also use the ALT + L shortcut to load the BIOS image in the memory. However, we recommend that you use the BIOS code file stored on the hard disk.
After the installation is successful, you can view the bios id code "09/06/2000-694X-686A-2A6LJPA9C-00" in the version and copyright of the modbin software ", the ID code contains the date and manufacturer information of the chipset and BIOS of your motherboard, which is the same as the text displayed at the lower left of the display when the computer is started.
Move the cursor key to "Change BIOS Options" and press Enter. On the program screen that appears, you can see a behavior "Security Default Password" (Security Default Password ), the default value is "********", which is the general password set by the manufacturer in the BIOS, that is, the place where we want to modify it. Press enter here and enter a new universal password. The maximum length of the password is 8 characters (figure 1 ). The following line is "Security Number of Retry", which indicates the Number of retries allowed when the default password is incorrect. The default value is 20. Too many retries are allowed. Of course it is not safe. You can change it to 3. Press ENTER twice to save and Press ESC to exit the screen. Do not modify other options. Otherwise, problems may occur.
Finally, use the first menu item "Update File" to save the modified BIOS File. This operation will automatically exit the modbin software. You can also call the BIOS file again to check whether the modified content has been saved to the BIOS code file.
