How to print charts separately in Excel

Charts in Excel can be embedded in a data sheet or individually on a chart sheet. Charts on a chart sheet can be printed directly. To print an embedded chart separately, simply select the chart and then print it. Here are some tips for printing charts in Excel:

1. Print embedded chart without distortion

In Excel 2003, when you print an embedded chart, by default the entire page is used to print the chart, which may distort the printed chart, and you can solve the problem by using the following methods:

Select the chart you want to print, click menu file → page setup → chart, and select adjust on the Chart tab.

Click OK, and then print the chart again. This option also adjusts the chart to the entire page size, but keeps the chart's height-to-width ratio, so it doesn't deform.

2. Adjust the size of the chart on the chart sheet and print

A chart on a chart sheet cannot be resized by default. We can resize it in the following ways and then print it.

In the above dialog box, select Customize and click OK to return to the chart sheet, where you can drag the handles around the chart to resize the chart.

3. Do not print the chart

If you want to print only the data on the worksheet without printing the chart, you can select the chart, and then click format → chart area, pop-up the Chart Area Format dialog box, select the Properties tab, and deselect print objects.

Click the OK button, and then cancel the selection of the chart and print the worksheet.

4. Print only the chart in the worksheet

Usually when you print an Excel worksheet, you print the table data along with the chart, and if you want to print only one chart from the worksheet, you can select the chart and then print it. The default Excel adjusts the size of the chart automatically to fit the entire page.
