How to quickly lock Windows XP Desktop

The method for locking a computer in Windows XP is related to the user login and logout method. In "Control Panel → User Account", select the task "Change User Login or logout mode" and there are two buttons on the interface: "Use welcome screen" and "use Quick User Switching" (the meaning can be viewed in the following explanation ). The two buttons can be set in three ways:

1. Do not use the welcome screen (or use Quick User Switching ).

2. Use the welcome screen only.

3. Use both the welcome screen and quick User Switching.

After Windows XP is installed, the default value is 3.

The following describes how to lock a screen based on the setting of "User Login or logout method.

Set 1: Same as Windows 2000 and Windows NT4.0, the interface is similar.

Advantage: The computer is actually locked. After you lock the computer, other users (except administrators) cannot use the computer.

Disadvantage: there is no "Welcome screen" before logon. You need to enter your username. Quick User Switching is not supported.

Set 2: Press CTRL + ALT + DEL and select "lock computer" from the "Shut Down" menu in the pop-up task manager ".

Advantage: a "Welcome screen" is available before logon. Other advantages are the same as that of setting 1.

Disadvantage: Quick User Switching is not supported.

Set 3: multiple methods are used at this time:

Method 1: Select Start> logout, and then click switch user ".

Method 2: Press CTRL + ALT + DEL and select "lock computer" from the "Shut Down" menu in the pop-up task manager ".

Method 3: Press CTRL + ALT + DEL, select the "user" tab in the pop-up task manager, select the account of the currently logged on user, and press the "Disconnect" button.

Advantage: a welcome screen is provided before logon, and quick User Switching is supported.

Disadvantage: only an account is locked, and other users can use this computer through other accounts.

General method: because the current keyboards are generally windows (there is a Windows icon in the middle of the Left CTRL and left alt keys, which is generally called the win key) in addition to the methods described above, there is also the most convenient method, that is, using the windows shortcut key: Win + L. In any case, press win + L to lock the screen. You can try it.

Although the above method is simple, users who are used to mouse operations prefer to have a shortcut on the desktop that can lock the computer and double-click it to lock the computer. The following method helps us establish such a shortcut.

1. Right-click the blank area of the desktop and select "new"> "shortcut ".

2. Enter rundll32.exe user32.dll and lockworkstation in the create an example dialog box, and click "Next ".

A shortcut named "lock the desktop" is created on the desktop. You only need to double-click it to lock the desktop. To unlock your account, you only need to enter your logon username and password in Windows XP.
