When installing Linux, installing grub in the main boot sector will boot Linux and Windows XP normally, but it also destroys the primary boot information for the original Windows. When Linux is removed, grub does not boot properly because grub needs to read the/boot information for Linux, but no longer exists. At this point, you can recover from the Windows XP installation CD.

After starting with the XP installation disk, select R to enter Repair mode, after entering the administrator password, you can use the command fixmbr to repair the main boot sector information, and then restart, automatically into the Windows XP boot menu.

This method can also be used for Windows 2000/2003/vista and so on.
