This article summarizes how to restore iis backup (MetaBase. xml) after you reinstall the system.
MetaBase. xml is the IIS configuration file, which is automatically backed up every day.
I. IIS backup
1. In the IIS management unit on the local computer, right-click the computer icon under Internet Information Service.
2. Select "all tasks/backup/restore configurations.
3. Click "create backup" and enter your backup name under the backup configuration name.
4. select "password-encrypted backup" (if "password-encrypted backup" is not selected during backup, after the system is re-installed or restored on another computer, the system prompts "invalid signature ")

Note: The backup file is in X:/WINDOWS/system32/inetsrv/MetaBack/(X indicates the drive letter of your system ).
Iis recovery methods
If the system has been reinstalled or changed to the server, the backed up MetaBase. xml cannot be overwritten in the new system.
I have studied this and found that after the system is changed, manually modify the following parameters in the backup MetaBase. xml to restore MetaBase. xml in the new system.
The specific method is: use NotePad to open the MetaBase in the new system and the backup respectively. xml file, and then cut out the code in the middle of </IIsWebService> to <IIsApplicationPools (no ending in parentheses) and put it in two different files.
The following parameters are found in MetaBase. xml of the new and old systems:
AdminACL
UNCPassword
AnonymousUserName
AnonymousUserPass
Then, replace the parameter values in the backup MetaBase. xml file with the new system parameter values. Finally, copy the replaced code back to the cut-down code location.
