Restore a backup from a backup device
Expand the server group and then expand the server.
Expand the "Database" folder, right-click the database, point to the "all tasks" sub-menu, and then click the "Restore database" command.
In the "Restore to Database" box, if the name of the database to be restored is different from the default name displayed, enter or select. To restore a database with a new name, enter a new database name.
Specifying a new name for the database will automatically specify a new name for the database file restored from the database backup.
Click "from device", and then click "select device ".
Under "restore from", click "tape" or "disk", and then select restore device.
If no device appears, click Add to add an existing backup device or create a new backup device. In the "Restore database" dialog box, click "View content" and select the backup set to be restored.
This option scans the backup set to obtain the backup content. This operation may take a long time, especially when using tape devices. If you already know the backup set to be restored, enter the backup set number in "backup number.
Perform one of the following operations under "Restore backup set:
Click "database-complete" to restore the database backup.
Click "database-differential" to restore the differential database backup.
Click "transaction log" to apply transaction log backup.
Click "file or file group" to restore the file or file group backup. Specifies the name of a file or file group.
Click the "options" tab and Perform one of the following operations: (optional)
Click "enable the database to continue running, but cannot restore other transaction logs". If there is no other transaction log backup to be applied.
Click "make the database no longer run, but can restore other transaction logs" to apply other transaction log backups.
