How to retrieve the SQL connection password in SQL Enterprise Manager

I don't know if the title I wrote can fully express what I want to say, but I don't feel it completely. So please read the text!

Problem description: Many WEB developers (and hackers who intrude through WEB injection) should have a lot of SQL database connections in their hands, right? Generally, several groups are created in the SQL Enterprise Manager, and there are many connected instances in each group, for example (Figure 1 ):

As time passes, you may have forgotten the passwords of SQL connection instances that have not been used for a long time (or you have never remembered the user names and passwords for these SQL connections ), if one day you want to retrieve the passwords for these SQL connections, you may do this:

Right-click the SQL connection instance, select "Edit SQL Server Registration attributes", and then in the displayed "registered SQL Server attributes" dialog box (Figure 2 ), use the asterisk password viewer to view the password in the password box (Figure 3 ):

Have you seen it? The password displayed in your "asterisk password viewer" is also an asterisk (all "*"). (Note: please do not doubt that your asterisk password viewer is useless. Wait a moment and you will see the real password !)

I believe most people do this in the beginning. I think that we can find out the password. The result shows that the asterisk password viewer explores the asterisk. Let me tell you how to retrieve the password. Please refer to the following operations:

1. Select an SQL connection instance and double-click to expand the connection. If the connection can be expanded, a green icon is displayed before the connection, it indicates that the account and password for your SQL connection are correct (figure 4), and the password will be used later.

2. 4. In the expanded SQL connection, select "Database", right-click the menu, and select "export data" under "all tasks ", at this time, the Database Export Wizard will pop up, 5:

In Figure 5, click "Next" to go to the "Select data source" dialog box in the "Database Import wizard". At this time, you will find that "use SQL SERVER Authentication" is selected by default ", in the username and password boxes below, there are both user names and passwords. At this time, we open the asterisk password viewer and drag the magnifier to the password box. What do you see? In the Password box of the asterisk viewer, the real password for your SQL connection is displayed !! 6:

This method was also found in an accidental operation. I forgot the SQL connection password of a customer, but I need to help solve some database problems of this customer. So I want to use the method mentioned at the beginning of this article, you can use the asterisk password viewer to retrieve the password directly in the SQL Server Registration attribute, but the result shows that the password cannot be recovered. Therefore, you can temporarily put it down and try to import the customer's database to the local machine first, therefore, the data export operation found that there was a password box in the "Import and Export Database Wizard". I did not expect to display the password.
