method of setting bar chart with PPT

1, the data source sorting

The usual principle of drawing a bar chart is to arrange the data by size and then generate a chart, forming a rectangular bar from long to short in the shape's appearance, just like an inverted ladder, so that the data size and gravity of the various purposes are at a glance:

To generate a bar chart in descending order, you can simply do this by simply arranging the values in the data source in ascending order.

2, axis and grid line settings

Bar charts typically do not require an external border, and you do not need to display horizontal axes and grid lines. You will typically choose to harden the vertical axis to a datum line, and then distribute the vertical gridlines that appear to be evenly weakened by the position of the tick.

To set the baseline, click the Vertical Axis tab to select the axis, then click the right mouse button to select the format Axis command, select the main type of tick mark in axis options as none (clear tick mark marks on the vertical axis), and then set the color and width of the line in the option to fill the line.

Similar to this, to weaken the display of vertical gridlines, you can select the line color to light gray and set a narrower line width after the vertical grid line.

3. Set the axis label or data label

The tick labels on the horizontal axis are displayed by default below the chart, or they can be displayed above the chart by option settings:

Select the horizontal axis label, right-click the format Axis command, and then set the label position to high in the axis options to display the axis labels at the top of the chart.

You can also consider hiding these axis labels and choosing to label the data directly on the rectangular bar.

To hide an axis label, you can set the label position to none in the menu options in the figure above.

To add a data label display, you can select the data series to right-click, select "Add Data Label", and then select the data labels, right-click the "Format data label" command, you can in the dialog box to display the contents of the label and the placement of the label set.

The default display of labels is usually "value", and some cases also show "category name" directly in it, replacing the display of ordinate labels. For example, the following effect:

The placement of the labels can be placed in center, data label, inner axis, and data labels, such as the position of the label in the above picture on the inside of the shaft.

The position of the data label in the figure below is set outside the "Data label". After using a direct data label to mark the size of the data, the vertical gridlines are no longer necessary to fully display, you can consider choosing to hide:

If you want data labels to be aligned on the right side of the line, there is no direct option setting to operate, but you can do this by:

Delete the existing data labels, and then add the original data groups to the chart in a complete copy of the old ones in the chart data source to form a clustered bar with the same size as the one side display. Next, select the new data series in the chart, right-click the "Format data series" command, and draw the series in the secondary axis in series options, so that the new bar series will be covered above the previous series:

Next, select the top horizontal axis (This horizontal axis is produced by the secondary axis), right-click the "format Axis" command, and then in the axis options, check the "Reverse tick value", so that after the operation, the new set of bar series will become a right-to-left rectangular bar, With the original series to form a face-to-face symmetrical mirror:

After that, the setup is simpler, select the right side of the bar series to add data labels to it, and set the label position on the "axis inside", and then set the fill color of the bar series to colorless, so as to hide the graphics display and only display its data labels can achieve the goal effect. In this diagram, you can also increase the horizontal gridlines, which can be used to guide the data labels:

By aligning the data labels to the right, you can make the entire bar look more balanced. You can continue to improve on the basis of the above diagram, such as the left side of the vertical axis and its labels are hidden, and then use data labels to directly display the classification information inside the rectangular bar. If necessary, you can also consider adding a set of icons that represent the meaning of the label in the outside of the rectangle bar:

4, fill style

As a whole, the fill color of the rectangular bar can choose a different scheme, but generally speaking, the color type too much affect the beauty degree, and the use of monochrome or two-color scheme is more easily controlled. For example, the above image is a two-color transition scheme. The monochrome scheme in the image below will also have a good effect:

In version 2013, a bar chart with only a single data series, if in the data series healthy Milk zhen Deutzia ∠ scandium chimneys Anthrax lang  莸 tie down faction and  gown 谩 jing  difficult to do δ Yun-Shao Courtyard Qian award yie nai  鞲 鼍 Weng Ankle far  pomelo appearance Huang  difficult Zhang , Xian ド evil oar woman painted tip Garden Light 7 award Yie bag suffering  umbrella

For the color fill in the rectangular bar, in addition to the pure color filling, gradient is also commonly used techniques. A common gradient is a monochrome gradient in a horizontal direction from dark to light, such as the effect of the following illustration:

There is also the use of vertical depth-shallow-deep three-segment monochrome gradient transition to produce a three-dimensional reflective effect of the cylinder:

In addition to these general setup methods, there are a number of other special fill settings that can be used to construct more different bar design styles, such as the example shown in the following illustration:
