1. Select the networking mode

Home Wireless LAN network and wired LAN have some differences, the simplest and most convenient way is to select a Peer-to-peer network, that is, the wireless AP or wireless router as the center (traditional wired LAN use hub or switch), other computers through the wireless network card, wireless AP or wireless router to communicate

The network has the advantages of easy installation, strong expansion and easy to eliminate faults. In addition, there is a peer-to-peer network mode without the wireless AP or wireless router, directly through the wireless network card to achieve data transmission. However, the distance between the computer, network settings, relatively high requirements, relative trouble.

2, hardware Installation

Below, we take the Tp-link tl-wr245 1.0 Wireless Broadband router, Tp-link tl-wn250 2.2 wireless network card (PCI interface) for example. Turn off the computer, open the Host box, plug the wireless card into the unused PCI slot in the motherboard, and reboot. After you re-enter the Windows XP system, you are prompted to "discover new hardware" and try to install the network card driver automatically, and the Find New Hardware wizard dialog box opens for manual installation. Click the "Install software automatically" option to insert the driver disk that comes with the NIC into the optical drive and click the "Next" button so that you can install the driver. Click the "Finish" button. Open the Device Manager dialog box, and we can see that there are already installed wireless cards in the network adapters. After a successful installation of the wireless network card, a connection icon appears in the Windows XP system taskbar (the wireless networking icon is also added in the Network Connections window). Right-click the icon, select the "View available wireless Connections" command, and in the dialog box that appears, display the available wireless network. Select the network and click on the "Connect" button to connect to the wireless network.

Next, select a suitable location in the room to put the wireless router, power supply can be connected. In order to ensure wireless Internet access in the future, need to be placed in the proximity of the Internet network entrance. In addition, we need to pay attention to the wireless router and installed wireless network card between the computer distance, because the wireless signal will be distance, through the wall and other performance effects, long distance will affect the reception signal and data transmission speed, the best guarantee within 30 meters.

3, set up the network environment

After installing the hardware, we also need to set up the wireless AP or wireless router and the corresponding wireless client separately.

(1) Set up the wireless router

Before you configure your wireless router, you should first carefully read the user's Guide, which comes with the product, to learn about the default administrative IP address and access password. For example, our wireless router defaults to a management IP address of 192.168.1.1, and the access password is admin. After connecting to the wireless network, open IE browser, enter 192.168.1.1 In the Address box, enter the login username and password (the default is empty), click "OK" button to open the Router Settings page. Then click the "Basic Settings" link in the left window, set the IP address in the window on the right by default of 192.168.1.1; In the Wireless Settings option group, ensure that allow is selected, the name of the wireless LAN can be set in the SSID option, and the default number can be selected in the channel option; WEP option, you can choose whether to enable the key, and the default selection is disabled.

Tip: The SSID is the service Set Identifier, or it can be abbreviated to Essid, which means that the identity character of the wireless AP or wireless route is actually the name of the wireless LAN. The logo is primarily used to differentiate between wireless networks, which can be up to 32 characters, such as wireless.

We use this wireless broadband router to support the DHCP server function, through the DHCP server can automatically assign IP addresses to all computers in the wireless LAN, so that there is no need to manually set IP address, also avoid IP address conflicts. The specific settings are as follows: Also, open the Router Settings page, click the "DHCP Settings" link in the left window, and then select the "Allow" option in the "Dynamic IP Address" option in the right window to indicate that the DHCP server is enabled for the LAN. By default, the start IP address is 192.168.1.100, so that the first computer connected to the wireless network has the IP address 192.168.1.100, the second is 192.168.1.101 ... You can also manually change the last digit of the starting IP address, and you can set the number of users (default 50). Finally click the "Apply" button.

Tip: By enabling the DHCP server function of a wireless router, the IP address of any computer in a wireless local area network needs to be set up to automatically obtain an IP address, allowing the DHCP server to automatically assign an IP address.
